wait...there is IMAX that isn't 3D?

i don't do 3D because of my ADD, but I have a knock off IMAX (i think its called Real something or other) whats the difference?

What I find most interesting is that the blue flash that Jor-El and Zod see is not the Phantom Zone, but rather:

The flaming backside of Kal-El's rocket ship, you see this in the 13min publicity special. I'll try to screengrab for those who don't see it.

Here are the screengrabs for those interested:

But looking back at Trailer #3 when Kal-El's cradle flies up, Jor-El is not wearing his battle suit.

One camera and on most importantly on film. That's how you do it.

3D is well 3D. IMAX simply put is a really big screen, well at least the real IMAX is. Ever since the 3D boom theaters have forced anybody who wants to see IMAX to also see it in 3D.

It's not necessarily flying up just yet, the rocket is moving in preparation to launch. My guess is: (includes major spoilers)

Zod overheard or knows that Jor-El and Lara have committed a major crime (either Jor-El was let off the hook, or corruption is existent in the ruling council) in letting Kal-El exist (whose genetics has not been manipulated as a science experiment for Jor-El, to allow one to have the choice of being whatever he/she wants).

Which would explain why Jor-El sets himself up in a battle suit, so Zod doesn't interfere with the rocket launching off Krypton, as he's likely taking the Kryptonian law into his own hands. Plus General Zod has to be arrested for the Phantom Zone to take place, and we still need to see this scene...leaving me a hard time to think that the blue flash scene would happen before this:

Especially with implications that Jor-El dies saving his son from Zod.

For those of you who don't like IMAX 3D and just want 2D IMAX, they are apparently forcing IMAX theaters to offer at least one showtime in 2D IMAX each day, at least on the weekend. Here is an example at Houston's biggest IMAX screen:

The 3:35 PM show is 2D IMAX and the rest are 3D IMAX.

Thanks for the heads up so much. I've been waiting for 2d tickets in my city forever. Cineplex, the main theatre chain in Canada, did a great job hiding the 2d Imax option. If you click the link to buy Man of Steel tickets on their main page, it only gives you the option for regular showings (which are all in 3d right now) or Imax 3d showings. However, it seems doing a manual search for "Man of Steel" brings up a third option for Imax 2d and just as you said it is a single showing per day.

So I went to Walmart yesterday and saw all the new MOS toys they had there. There was also a giant Superman figurine. Anyway, I saw the Zod toys and noticed that his shield is red. I never noticed that.

A part of me feels vindicated in a way since some of my friends and I argued about who we thought the mocap men were (that were spotted alongside Shannon at the Kent Farm) and they thought that they were Shannon's stunt doubles.lol

On another note, good luck with fighting against all of these guys on your own superman.lol

What about poor Martha Kent?

That image is quite terrifying IMO. The distance from Zod to Martha is what makes it so terrifying and the realistic setting adds to it.

As for how Superman will beat all these Kryptonians by himself, we have to remember that he has one big advantage over them and that is the fact that he has been on Earth since he was a baby. He has been exposed to far more yellow sun energy than the rest.

True.lol Damn, they invade her house, nearly strangle her, beat up her son, and destroy her workplace (Sears). All within the first day of meeting her.

I am just curious if there is prior knowledge the "Kents" have raised "Kal-El" or if it is just happen stance they arrive in Smallville and on her farm. And I am genuinely intrigued with how Lois finds out about Clark to the point of visiting the Kents home.

They did a great job aging Diane Lane for Ma Kent...damn good job.

One theory someone has brought up and it concerns me is...

It is the flashback story telling theory, so we won't see Krypton first or anything, but Clark/Kal-El having a Flashback moment to his travels of the world. I am really hope we aren't stuck to just the 2 jobs...Fisherman and Oil Rig, I hope we see some other stuff thrown in there. The flashback theory concerns me, because it would mean they could "briefly" touch on those particular scenes, versus spending any considerable amount of time focused on his soul searching

Judging by how there is a language barrier, I highly doubt that that the Kents, including Clark (until he meets Jor-El I presume), know of his real Kryptonian name.

As for Lois, there was a voiceover in the trailers about how a parent heard her son witnessed Clark saving the schoolchildren in the bus. She could've snitched.

Oooo. That makes me happy. Even though it wasn't shot in IMAX, so the image won't be any clearer, the IMAX sound system will be awesome. And 3D doesn't work well for me, so yay.

In a darkened editing bay on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, Man of Steel footage rolls on a 70-inch screen. Finally, here's the director Zack Snyder's long-awaited, top-secret Clark Kent: swarthy and muscular, working at a bar on a lonely stretch of highway. No Brooks Brothers. No glasses. No Daily Planet. Instead, Kent, in jeans and a henley, is a drifter, bouncing from job to job, not yet ready to assume his true calling, not yet given the chance. Kent finds work far from any Metropolis. Among deckhands. And roughnecks. And wasted truckers who grope innocent women while he buses tables. He tells them to stop. They get aggressive, tossing beer, throwing punches. One connects and he takes it. Kent walks away, seething. He later lashes out, unleashing his long-pent-up wrath on inanimate aluminum and steel. This is Clark Kent struggling, grappling with the possibility of keeping his powers secret forever.

From what someone has told me. the flashbacks are used as a mechanism to culminate at the point of him wearing the suit and it works very well. like a Nolan film

I know, I just hope they elaborate on some other scenes from his travels beyond what we have seen thus far.
