i´m really interested on how this movie will be , i really hope that this is better than TDKR and Ironman 3

It will be better then Iron Man 3. TDKR was ambitious and had some very memorable scenes but tried to pack in to much at once, IMHO.

This is an origin story, so I think it will be more simplistic by default, so I don't think it will end up as flawed as TDKR.

I heard it was better than BB.

So for me, it has to beat out Iron Man and then TDK.

If it's grander (which it will be) and more deep in terms of design and character, it will top Iron Man.

As far as TDK goes, it's a film that was elevated because of Ledger's performance, but was still strong all around for the most part.

For MOS to top TDK for me, it would have to be emotional, more faithful, more mythological, more exciting, and more character-driven then the TDK (which I felt was more plot and theme-oriented than DRIVEN by the psychology of Batman) Also it would have to have a solid female character as well.

I criticized the Knight, don't judge me.

As for plotting goes, my enjoyment of films isn't hinged on the unpredictability of plots, but how the story and characters affect me. I'd rather have a "plot twist" that I can see coming but still works on an emotional level, than one that blindsides me and feels kind of inappropriate.

No audio in it but Zod and Jor El are talking while the council is quickly moving out, and Zod seems to have a skeptical look to what Jor El is saying.

That is the scene where Jor-El has just told them that Krypton's core is going to collapse within days. They basically say if that is Krypton's fate then so be it. In Jor-El's head this confirms his need to send Kal-El away to Earth, free of Krypton's flaws.

Zod is obviously listening in and agrees with Jor-El. Which is why he decides he needs to take command of the running of Krypton to save his race.

I love Amy Adams... but something is just not clicking for me with her as Lois. It's been my one casting concern since day one.

I hope she blows me away with the complete film.

I honestly feel most of us are going to LOVE this movie and the critics that are giving it an average score are being stupid, especially since many critics are gushing over it. Lol I'm so pumped for this though!
Just because some critics give it an average score , it doesnt mean they are stupid.
It just means they have different opinions than some of us.
And an average score isnt a failng score .

Yeah mine too. I think it's because the rest of the cast is so strong that it's harder to imagine her not as a character, but an actress.

BUT.. I'll wait until the movie comes out. Like I said, if she's the weakest link the movie will be MINDBLOWING IN ITS EPICNESS.

Exactly. For some, any type of blockbuster won't have the same impact as a more dramatic genre. So they might give it a decent or negative rating. But those are in the minority. And their opinion is just as valid as any..non-comic book reader's opinion :P

the prevailing wisdom from both critics and audiences was superman ii was a better film than superman when it opened in 1980 (overseas) and 1981 (in the us).

also the little matter of him being entitled to his views without ridicule.

thank you!!!!!!!

Today the British Board of Film Classification posted their insight into why Man of Steel is rated 12A over there. I will put it in the spoilers simply because one thing gets confirmed. I think most of us know what it is (I bolded it).

BBFCinsight publication date 04/06/2013

Note: The following text may contain spoilers

MAN OF STEEL is a new version of the Superman story, covering his origins on his home planet of Krypton, his childhood on Earth, and his battle with super-powered villains from Krypton. The film is rated 12A for moderate violence.

Early scenes in the film show the battles that took place on the planet Krypton between Superman's father and the principal villain, General Zod. These fights include some crunchy blows and some head butts. General Zod is seen with blood trickling down his face from a cut to his temple. A fatal stabbing also occurs but this is below frame. In the second half of the film, General Zod and his allies arrive on Earth to kill Superman. They all have the same superpowers as Superman and their battles are therefore evenly matched. Nonetheless, huge destruction and devastation are inflicted on the city of Metropolis as the battling protagonists throw and punch each, crashing into and through buildings. During the course of these prolonged battles there are a couple of crunchy neck breaks but no injury detail is shown.

The film also contains some mild bad language. This mostly occurs during flashback scenes in which the young Clark Kent is being teased by a school bully.

The scenes of Clark as a baby on his home planet show the baby lying naked in his spacecraft, but the nudity is entirely natural.

No-one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a 12 rated video or DVD.

Anyone know if Dajanksta and Cosmic's screening has started yet?

I'm just hoping it's a good film.

Boy are the mods going to have their work cut out for them...

It's a common theme when new films come out. The same happened with the Burton films.

However, I will say that S:TM and SII are both very, very dated. And I know I never really liked them growing up. I thought they were a bit campy and a bit boring. They're very stylized and I'm just not a huge fan of that style, which is why I think I always had issues with the Raimi Spider-man films.

So on that token, I'm not surprised to see people criticize them. I've honestly never understood the love for them. If I were ranking top comic films, neither of the Superman films would be in my top ten.

You and I pretty much agree. Did not like SM-The Movie or SM2. Even as a kid I found them to be very boring. But that's not saying others don't love them. If a critic hates MOS oh well doesn't mean I will hate it.
