I guess some of the appeal of RT is the simplicity of it's at-a-glance-system. Red? Good. Green? Bad. I agree though - something in between would help distinguish those critically 'average' films from the really good ones, and the really bad ones. Maybe we need 3 colors, not 2.
Though it doesnt help with the bragging rights (Dang, my superhero didnt score higher than yours! ) I find certain negative reviews can actually be encouraging. Not wanting too much spoilerage, I only skimmed the Variety review. But in it was this assessment:
The ambition to make a grittier kind of Superman pic is certainly admirable, but much of what Snyder and Goyer set out to fix wasnt really broken in the first place.
Now imo, theres a good deal about Superman thats been broken for a long time. So if Snyder and Goyer fixed stuff, MOS might be ideal - at least for me.
