To be fair I went with a bunch of superman haters the first time
5 minutes into the movie and they already hated it
that sort of ruined the experience

Right, but what I mean is. If I go see a movie, and I end up not liking it, why would I go again?? I'm forcing myself to like it, which is kinda weird.

Exactly. I don't care how much I love the actor in the film or how much I love the main character. If it sucks I'm not seeing it again.

I've seen it 5 times :D

After my first viewing I walked out a little frustrated and angry to be honest
but after seeing it again and again I just love it more and more. It's weird :funny:
5 times? Wow, ha. My limit is 3 but I suppose it's possible I could see it again but I'm not expecting that I'd enjoy it more after watching it again. Compared to movies like Zoolander, Rushmore, Batman Begins, those movies got much better after rewatching them, MoS seems unlikely for me though. Honestly, my favorite part of MoS was Colonel Hardy, I thought he was gonna be a *****ebag but he had a lot of heart and it was sad to see him go out, but at least like a champ.

I have to really like a movie to go see it again, and most of those times I go with someone who hasn't seen it, to 'feel' their enjoyment (if that makes any sense).
There are also times when the movie may not be the best ever, but it provides a great cinema theater experience, or a certain atmosphere that you only get with a packed theater.

I thought this would be a film I would go and see at least 3 times.

So far, I've seen it...once.

Seen it for the third time last night. I won't be going again, 3 is the limit for me this time around.

I love the movie. After seeing it 3 times (first time in 2D was last night so I was able to catch more things)...I have to say that I love each fighting scene but maybe they could have cut back a little towards the end. Mainly the stuff over the Indian Ocean. The way Superman gets the job done was magnificent but the actual battle was a little too much.

Also there's a couple of lines from Goyer that make me cringe even though I think he, for the most part, did a good job with the screenplay. Things like Lois and Superman's kiss "They say it goes downhill after the first kiss"..."Im pretty sure that only counts if you're kissing a human".

The actress who played Jenny Olsen was fine for me the first couple of times I saw it. But for some reason the third time became a little bit much with the overdramatic acting. I guess she's in shock but I find she over-acted the part a little bit to the point where it gets annoying.

As much as I love it, I hope they scale things down in the sequel and concentrate more on story and breathing room with Clark/Lois, Lex, etc.

My favorite part is still Zod, Faora and when Cavill is in the suit. He comes off as the definitive Superman to me even more than Reeve. Clark Kent of Daily Planet? Obviously Reeve wins that round but maybe that will change when we see Henry in the sequel.

But Shannon is one of my favorite actors of the last decade or so. He gets better and better as the movie goes along and it's not even close to his best performance obviously. Goyer's lines that were written for Zod are amazing. There's little joke lines that are a bit corny with other characters but the lines he gave to Shannon/Zod still hold up after the third viewing. Especially in the final act.

Oh and I would marry Faora in a heartbeat. :woot:

So overall, even though ill only revisit the movie when the Blu-ray is released, I still think MOS is one of the greatest comic book movies of all time. A GREAT sci-fi film. Not on par with Batman Begins, Dark Knight or Dark Knight Rises for me but still Snyder's best by a long shot. Not flawless, hopefully the sequel improves in certain areas. I still think it feels like a Snyder/Abrams/Nolan mixture.

There is this wonderful shot of Lawrence where it's the last shot of Metropolis before we cut back to Superman destroying the world engine over the Indian Ocean. You see the light of the beam in the background and the background shake and Fishburne just had this solemn we are about to die and I'm sorry look he gives to Jenny. God I get chills EVERYTIME.

True. But the thing is, despite my frustration with how they handled some stuff I ended up liking it a LOT the first time. That's why I went again

"Release the world engine"

Just terrible. Did anyone else think Shannon was talking in somewhat slow-motion? Didn't like his portrayal. Could have cast anyone for that role.

"you're a monster Zod, and I'm going to stop you"
*heroic pose*

"Don't do this! Stop!"

"Never!"

I have a hard time taking that scene seriously anymore because my brother said it looks like the family is laughing...so you know, I can't help but chuckle.

While I like making fun of cheesy lines because that's in every movie for the most part, the only one in this movie that truly made me cringe was "My son is twice the man you are." I don't know what people think of that line but I had a slight facial tweak after hearing it haha.

Sounded like two moms at a elementary school soccer game.

Or a PTA meeting.

I for one loved every bit of dialogue in the scene were Jor-El and Zod talk on the fortress ship.
Probably one of the most memorable scenes in the film. I thought Crowe and Shannon had great chemistry.

I actually like that line.

Really? That's another one I really dig.

LOL these last 3 are actually lines I really liked in the movie. You guys are weird :hehe:

Shannon was my favorite part of the movie and pretty much every person I went to see it with (all 3 times ive gone).

If he wasn't in the movie as Zod, all of those scenes would have been a disaster. He has a certain level of intensity with his eyes and his slow delivery is menacing. And that's not even close to how intense he can get.

I never really got an Abrams vibe.

Since JOE think anybody could've played Zod, I would love to see his portrayal.
