Should I even spend time on this? God, critics and online bloggers are making watch movies no damn fun anymore. To everyone, nothing works.
i read the article and liked it. and i still had fun watching MOS. i will also have fun with Pacific Rim and Lone Ranger.i thought this is SHH where we think and talk about movies ? is this a bodybuilding or car forum? :cwink:

the writter is trying to find the answer why some liked and some didnt like MOS. he is trying to find the answer without saying that one side was wrong. everyone is right. doesnt mean that the one who didnt like it doesnt like fun and hates everything. which is a big problem on the superman forums.

But, this is not really what I'm getting at. When a big cultural geek film gets released, there are weeks and weeks of articles and essays taking sides and it's getting to be too much. Do they even enjoy movies anymore?

Not saying you can't think critically and dissect films but there is no evidence as to why we react to films the way we do. Perfect example: Gangster Squad. It's a **** film. I see all the problems left and right and yet, I've been watching that film on a constant loop for five days. It makes no damn sense, especially since I went to film school so I should shrug **** like Gangster Squad off but it's staying with me.

Wait until Pacific Rim hits next week. The back and forth on that film is going to be epic.

Heh call me shallow but i could never get into the film crit hulk reviews, the ALL-CAPS and Hulk speech just always puts me off.

I know what he's trying to say but, having read half of it already, parts still come down to "I'm right, you're wrong" when it comes to this film.

I think Film Crit Hulk effectively articulated why I found it hard to truly care about most of the characters in the movie, save for Jor El and Jonathan.

If your article is written in all caps and you call yourself Hulk and talk in third person, I'm not going to read your article and I won't take you seriously. #SorryNotSorry

After reaing that, I am curious, Does Film Critic Hulk ever ENJOY a movie?

SO HULK ASKS YOU AGAIN, WHY ARE THERE FLASHBACKS IN THIS MOVIE?

WHY DO WE FEAR REGULAR STORYTELLING? WHY USE VAGUE FLASHBACKS WHEN AN "ORIGIN" STORY CAN EFFECTIVELY TAKE 4 MINUTES AND WORK WONDERS, AS UP SO READILY PROVES?

He's underestimating Superman's origins if he thinks it's going to take 4 minutes...Moreover, you're gonna flash forward anyways if he used that kind of form (which MOS tried, from the Krypton sequences to fish catching), so I don't really see his complaint.

Just got back from my second viewing. Went with one who thought it would be good and one who doesn't like Superman.

The one who didnt like Superman said it was "really good" and the one who was excited said he was disappointed. He said it seemed like it was just people jumping into eachother during action (which when I think about it, it kinda was). They both were making jokes about how many skyscrapers got destroyed as well and in my second viewing I have to say it was kinda ridiculous.

I thought it was better than my first viewing though (which I gave a 7) I'd now give it an 8.5.

My friends also both thought Amazing Spiderman was better and out of TAS, Avengers, TDK, TDKR, Iron Man 3 that MOS was the weakest. So kind of a bummer as I thought they'd both like it.

Well like so many have told me before here.lol, your opinion is what matters most in the end.lol..and we're glad that you enjoyed it at least, better on your second viewing as well than your first.

Very true, it was just weird as the 3 of us go to watch stuff often and this is the very first time that we had such split opinions. Thing is the issues had I totally agree with but they didnt ruin the film for me.

all movies have flaws. ALL. very rarely will you come across a film that's so perfect that you can't find one thing you wish would have been done differently.

at the end of the day, it all comes down to.........do the flaws override the positives in the film and are the flaws so great that they ruin the film for you.

Just finished HULK's editorial. He spent all those words, in CAPS no less, to basically say, "This isn't my Superman."

I disagree with the idea that HULK was being biased. He objectively discussed why he felt this version of Superman was not effective for him. While he talks about his personal history with Superman at the end, I felt that it didn't affect the main points of his argument at all.

Agree to disagree then.

I don't think he was biased. I just can't take him or his writing seriously when he writes in that obnoxious style.

I also noticed on my second viewing that "Metropolis" is actually spoken by one of the characters. I remember a few criticizing that it never was.

Caring about 2 characters is more emotional investment then I have in about 99% of movies

Can't remember if it was spoken, but it was written in the screen of one of the computers.

Yeah its written on a screen behind Hamilton.

When Hardy is taking the pod for the drop he says something like "We're over Metropolis now".
