Am I the only one a little worried this films getting a little too Dark Knight Returnsish?
Well until we see otherwise, we just have an older Batman possibly fighting a younger Superman once in a movie that was announced using a quote from the book.
But the circumstantial case to be worried isn't very strong.
Older Batman
Superman and Batman fighting probably once. Who knows.
Announcement using quote and teaser with Batman wearing familiar armor.
The issue is that it's the beginning of a DC movie universe.
There would need to be more in place imo for it to be more TDKRish.
Superman is young and isn't established as an arm of the U.S. government. His statement at the end of MoS would go against that. Superheroes will be coming out into the open it seems, not going into hiding or retiring.
Is the worry here that Snyder will make Superman look bad by having him defeated by Batman?
We have no reason to think that. It just wouldn't make sense to start a new universe with Superman in a film that ended relatively controversially leading into a film where the results of the first film are dealt with(the destruction ) only to have this new symbol of hope in the form of Superman, buried(wrestling term) by Batman.
Is it possible? Sure, I guess. But pretty much anything is at this point.
I just don't see enough to think the book is THAT much of an influence yet.
