I've never liked the idea of Wonder Woman being able to fly. What's the point of invisible jet if you can fly?

Well, if she's going somewhere with someone who doesn't have the super power of flight (e.g. Steve Trevor).

Or if she's travelling a substantial distance and she wants to conserve her strength and energy. Or if she's travelling somewhere and she wants time to communicate with her allies, formulate a strategy, etc without concentrating on flying (provided that the invisible jet has autopilot).

If she wants to travel somewhere covertly without being detected (e.g. travelling to and from Themyscira or into a country which is not welcoming of superheroes). If she needs to leave somewhere with others, for example, a group of political refugees, without being detected.

I think there are plenty of reasons to have a highly advanced, invisible jet even if you're able to fly.

Because hulk doesn't hover for a period of time, he just bounces like a ball. And flings himself around. He certainly doesn't float straight up to block an attack. How is that even equatable?

He has jumped straight up plenty.

You're missing the point still anyway. Just because you perceive it to be so doesn't necessarily mean that it is. For all we know Superman could just be "falling with style" as he always uses his legs to thrust himself up too. Science of magic is hard to quantify as there is no real life president. It could be that they just wanted her jump to resemble flight if only a bit to pay homage but not really showing her full on Superman flight.

I love Wonder Woman, but I think having her super-athleticism just works better with her fighting style. With her sword and shield, performing superhuman feats of acrobatics just fits the imagery better than having her fly in my opinion. I have to admit that i don't like the sword and shield. She already have a her awesome bracelets, wich can create a force field, wich is better than any shield. And i think her lasso is a more interesting weapon, it's more unique and versatilethan the sword.

I know that everyone doesn't want to take away her power because of her gender, but i have seen sooooo many comments that go this way, it's depressing and infuriating

The only thing which I would add to the discussion is that Diana is the Princess of Themyscira. IF Diana was raised as royalty for her entire life and has spent hundreds / thousands of years learning how to one day step into Hippolyta's shoes as Queen of the Amazons, then it makes a certain degree of sense that Diana would talk in a somewhat reserved and overly formal / cautious manner.

That could still apply once she enters man's world given that she's surrounded by strangers in a strange land which she understands is capable of great technological advancements and beauty while also being capable of unspeakable cruelty. Diana probably would be somewhat hesitant to speak because she's both curious about and distrusting of her new companions.

So, I'm inclined to let some aspects of Gal Gadot's portrayal slide on that basis. I think the greater test will be in Justice League where Diana has apparently built or will build relationships with her fellow leaguers and how Gal portrays Diana's "true" personality in those scenes.

And I'm also inclined to reserve any real judgment until I've seen the movie, as opposed to a handful of dialogue from the trailers and her minimal scenes in DoJ.

Wonder Woman is also a master warrior and a brilliant tactician, honestly she should be the League's strategist not Batman. Shazam is supposed to be a straight up Atlas-esque living god whereas I see Diana being more akin to a classical greek demigod hero that relies on skill as much as power.

I think the sword and shield are important parts of her iconography but her lasso and bracelets are essential too, that's why I love her super-perception and reflexes that she shows in the trailer. And bottom line is she's a warrior, unlike other heroes she doesn't have a firm no-kill code hence the sword.

Yeah, that's why I'd avoid YouTube comments entirely.

I'm on the jumping bandwagon. She jumped high, and maybe had a little lift from the roof being blown up underneath her. I agree that flight should be strictly Superman, because if we make their powers too similar then how unique are they..?

Correct. I really hate the idea of her having flight even with magic boots, errrr which sounds even worse. Must keep power sets unique as possible.
I dont want a situation where the only difference between JL members is a gimmick like a shield and a metal arm.

In terms of the current (and ridiculously massive) DC roster, it seems that just about every superhero and his uncle can fly. So in that context, it would be unfair to single out WW for de-powering.

But a new movie universe has the luxury of editorial selection. And as a general rule (in fiction), you want the individual members of a team to display uniqueness and avoid redundancy (to the degree that’s possible). Moreover, a non-flying WW isn’t radical revisionism; it faithfully represents the original Golden Age version as well as the pop-culturally resonant 70s TV series.

They're really keeping the beginning of the movie under wraps, ah? Almost no Connie, Robin and Lisa. No young Diana. Connie confirmed in Comic Con that Queen Hippolyta will fight in the movie, and I don't think it will happen in the second or third act. I think we will get something like this in the beginning of the movie.

I'm pretty sure she couldn't fly in Super Friends either. Maybe he most known versions of her with the exception of Justice League (and Unlimited) have all been non flying. I still don't see the big deal.

I honestly don't like her with that ability to begin with as I see her more like the demigods of Greek legend like Hercules or like Beuwolf who fight armys in a grounded and tactical manner rather than a scifi one with the inclusion of flight. Terrestrial is best imy opinion.
