So ALLSTAR Superman.

Can't be any worse than ALLSTAR Batman, right? lol

I was just wondering though, it is a re-telling of the origin story?
If i buy vol 1, will i be getting just that, or something different?

You could look up Wikipedia. I've heard it's good but you may either like it or not. It depends on your taste. I've also heard it's kind of like a modern version of the Silver Age. What I have seen I'll probably get at least one of the TPBs to see if I'll like it. But I've got a lot of other stuff to get first.

All-Star Superman is freaking awesome.

And to answer your question, no, it's not a new origin story. Superman is already established as THE superhero, and is at the height of the Silver Age. Superman is lured into a trap by Lex Luthor where he absorbs way more solar energy than his body can handle. The up-shot is that he's more powerful than he's ever been (even immune to Kryptonite), but it's also slowly killing him. The main point of it is Superman doing as much good as he possibly can before the end.

It's a lot more tongue-in-cheek than the main S comic, but it's a whole lot of fun. Pure old-school mayhem.

Yeah what he said. It's very much a silver age style with modern levels of depth and detail. Really good.

all star supes is mandatory reading for any superman fan.

It's a big love letter to Silver Age Superman, right down to the covers. It's pretty much the exact opposite of All Star Batman, which is a parody of the more modern Batman.

Generally, I've seen more praise and less criticism towards the All-Star Superman title, than that of All-Star Batman. Personally, I've enjoyed both so far.

I've enjoyed it quite abit and it's nice that most issues are their own stand alone stories for the most part, I think the Bizarro issues were a story arc, but still it's a good series thus far, def. worth checking out
