Yea... Spiderman is basically useless. We already have Captain America, Ironman, Black Panther, Bucky, Vision, and Scarlet Witch. Spiderman is a weakling in this one....

That said, every little bit will be a major asset once IW rolls around

I'm guessing that you don't know anything about the character.

I dont think The Russos wouldve planned from the start he was always gonna be in it if he was considered useless to what was going on.

Also Spider Man is really strong, so describing him as a weakling isnt right either.

What the ??
This. Spidey nowhere close to being a weakling. Even the teenage versions of the character:

That wrestling scene was done great in Raimi's Spider Man. I love those movies.

Spider-Man is weak compared to most superheroes with superhuman strength, but he's definitely stronger than Cap or Black Panther.

I beg to differ. Spidey with his strength, agility, spider sense and sheer brilliance/ingenuity makes him a deadly opponent. He can even go toe-to-toe with the Hulk:

And he actually beat Hulk (With the black suit and Cap's help but still)

He's more than a match for Cap, Bucky AND Black Panther. Half the heroes in the MCU actually.

He won't be that powerful here. Plus, he's just starting out. No way he could take on Cap or Panther and win

That's because of Spider-Man's jobber aura brought on by his immense popularity. High end feats, there are. On any given day, Spider-Man would get squashed by Hulk. Spider-man can only lift about 15 tons, compared to 100+ tons weight class of Hulk and Thor.

He's definitely powerful enough to beat someone with borderline superhuman strength, but that's not the issue. It's Spider-Man's relative inexperience in a fight that's the issue.

They did say Spidey would be used as comedic relief in Civil War. It sounds like hes gonna be doing some webheaded screwball antics.

He should be able to take and beat Cap/Panther considering that he's 3x as strong, plus spider sense, plus his agility (which is superior to Panther's) and he wasn't a weakling in the early Ditko comics nor the Ultimate comics (and he was a 15/16 year-old) able to lift five tons, he was still very strong. Plus we know Peter has been Spider-Man since he was 13/14 in the MCU taking into account when he was first mentioned in Ant-Man, so it's not like he is super inexperienced.

Yes, I know that. Hulk smashed Spidey in the same panel. But my point was, Spidey can hold his own against the Hulk (one of the strongest characters in the Marvel universe), so he's not "weak" compared to other super powered beings.

Yeah thats right, if hes been a vigilante since 13/14, hes gained a good amount of fighting experience. But he probably hasnt faced any other enhanced people yet.

Yes, in that panel, and in that comic book, but on any other given day, Spider-Man wouldn't even be able to hold his own. Within the MCU, Spidey is pretty fracking strong, but within the Marvel universe? No, he's actually not that strong.

How do we know the strength of MCU Spider Man? He hasnt been intro'd yet.

Well, Feige said he will be "grounded but super powerful". I think he will be stronger than Cap/Bucky but weaker than Iron Man/WM/Vision.

Iron Man Vs Spidey: I dont know how that would go. I guess its strategy more than strength.

People are missing the point a bit here. Nobody said Spider-Man isn't powerful, just that unlike Captain America's need for Ant-Man, Spider-Man doesn't have anything that would require Tony Stark NEEDING his help.

Need super strength? Iron Man and War Machine have that covered. Tech and science help? Black Panther and Iron Man again.

There will likely be something that causes Spider-Man to cross paths with Iron Man and his team, but he's not necessary or needed like Ant-Man is for Team Cap.

Im not. I don't think we'll see it for at least another 2 months. Maybe the superbowl spot if we're lucky.

The thing is, until he got combat training from Cap in the comics (like half the Marvel roster :woot:) hand-to-hand ability was never the strong point of Spider Man. He was just very agile and aided by the spider-sense. But he has never been a martial arts master.
And Cap (and BP) are two of the strongest characters at that. It has make a difference, doesn't it?

Ultimate Cap also held his own against Hulk in the Ultimates (until he got his ass handed to him, but I guess the same happened to Spiderman here). As far as we know, MCU Cap is much closer to this version than to 616 Cap.

Stronger than 616 Cap. Hard to say about movie Cap, who is definitely stronger.

Yep, see above :cwink:

Well, that's why they're using Spider-Man as comic relief. Spider-Man isn't even close to being the strongest or more powerful hero, but that doesn't really matter. It's his sense of humor and the fact that he's so relatable as a person that makes him so enduring to fans.

Lets not assume anythingin Civil War before its even out. Spider Man has abilities that normal humans dont have. So therefore he could be used to help Tony. Im not saying thats def gonna happen but its a possibility.
