They were referring to the groundedness in Steve's SHIELD uniform. That was used as an analogy for the CW Spiderman uniform (assuming that they were even talking about Spiderman in the first place...)

Does anyone want to see a grounded Spidey suit? I mean theres really only one basic suit for him. Red, blue, webbing design, mask. Theres only so many ways you can design that so it looks like the Spidey everyone knows. When Spidey appears everyone should know who it is right away. Not be like: Whaa? Unless his suit isnt the iconic one but an early homemade version.

Well they already did it with Captain America in each MCU movie that he has appeared in (save for Dark World, which utilized his Avengers suit). Every uniform design is unique, and that is, also, with only three primary colors (which happen to be identical to Spiderman's)

Yeah but you can see the basic Cap design in all his suits. The only real difference between them is some small accents. I think Spidey needs his iconic design to make sense. It cant be an all blue leather suit with a red mask and goggles.
