A Spider-Man that can do his own stunts? FTW!! :spidey:

I also noticed in his social media, from years ago that he had SM toys, he drew the spider as if the SM look, etc. So I think he is a hardcore SM fan and probably went after the role.

Seriously the more I find out about Holland, the more he's impressing the hella out of me. I wasn't keen on another SM reboot in a short period of time, but Tom can act and has the moves so I'll will check out the movie. Also he does ballet in Billy Elliot. MCU now has 3 former ballet dancers, Zoe Saldana, Emily VanCamp, and Tom Holland that I'm aware of.

I'm excited to see him promote the movie. Despite the cameo, small role or whatever, I guarantee that Marvel/Sony will be flying him to every premiere.

Guess I'm on board now. Here's to hoping this turns out beautifully.

Is there really that big of of a social media backlash?

I saw last night something E! related "reported" on it. Sounds like there were three disappointed camps:
-The "Holland looks too young" camp...
-The "It's not Miles Morales, or they didn't diversify the character in another way" camp...
-The "Another Spidey" Camp (is that really a bad thing though?)

I'm thrilled for the new Spidey and can't wait myself...so who cares what everyone else thinks...

...Everything's a reason to complain nowadays, the one thing I hate about this social media age...so I'm not much better, I'm complaining about complaining...LOL...

Pshaw, no one's even started a petition yet filled with tens of thousands of signatures like with Affleck. :o

Entertainment reporting is getting more and more embarrassing. This report was basically them cherry picking about a dozen and a half twitter quotes which probably fit the original spin they'd already decided to take.

FWIW, the comment section of the E! article online is predominately positive about the casting and negative about E!.

That's what I was thinking...everything's been positive so far, and they probably really had to reach and dig to get those few posts/quotes...

He's a good actor, I'll give him that. But I'm not particularly enthusiastic about seeing Peter Parker version 3.0, nor that it's led to the films that I'm really interested in (BP and CM) getting pushed back. Nor the "teen DRRAAAAMMMAAA" thing that they seem to be going for.

I thought he was good in "The Impossible". But I am rather "meh" on yet another Spider-Man reboot, though. I also feel Spidey is kinda superfluous in this version of Civil War.

Do you have a link to this E! article? I enjoy reading stupid articles that piss me off.

That is gonna reoccur a lot so it's best to just shrug it off now. They were already making "Why do we need a Spider-Man remake already?" jokes when Andrew Garfield put on the tights, it's gonna get a thousand times worse with them rebooting the franchise again so soon.

Show us the costume............please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The itsy bitsy spider-man :woot:

Stuart Little become Spidey little.
Seriously why do they want to make a kid Spiderman
We can cast an 20-25 yo actor to play a teenager around 17 yo.

Holland is 19 years old, he looks more a young boy in elementary school

Nah, he looks like a teenager which is what Spider-man is. (That photo is also almost 2 years old) He only looks young because we're so used to Hollywood casting late 20s/early 30s as teens. Even with Holland he'll be 20 years old playing a 15 yrd old by the time Spider-man films.

I'm stating to think people don't know what elementary school kids look like. He's a 19 year old who can credibly look like a 15 year old (although, by definition, he also looks like a 19 year old), but he doesn't look like a 10 year old.

It's as people have never seen actual teenagers before

i know im coming in late (really hectic couple of weeks) but...

... MY BET GOT THE ROLE!! WOOOOHOOO!! :db: :spidey:

very happy with Tom's selection, and thats just by going with the roles ive seen him in. his physicality (via his IG vids) i was completely unaware of but thats just lovely fondue on the cake. :awesome:

now lets hope the Spiderman production doesnt screw him over. Feige better be watching this production like a mother hen. trying to sell Spiderman for the 3rd time is gonna be an uphill battle mmhm.

I'm surprised they just didn't read dialogue from the comics.

Movies =/= comics
They probably wanted Tom to read something with the MCU's characterization of the character. Plus comic dialogue isn't (usually) as dynamic as film dialogue.

Is it just me or is anyone else digging the "John Hughes but in a CBM" tone that Feige's going to shoot for with this Spidey?

*digging through my collection of SIXTEEN CANDLES, BREAKFAST CLUB, FERRIS BUELLER...*

Not just you. I think that's a great unique spin for young Spider-man and it's another example of how Feige keeps Marvel fresh by wanting the different series to play out in different genres or sub genres.
