Why not? I think it would make for a great little moment, Cap and/or Tony realizing that the only person doing the right thing is a kid.

Cause it's bull.

It's more than enough they're using this film and the popularity of Steve and Tony to resuscitate Spider-Man at the box office. There's no need to make them look small and incompetent to make SM look better.

MyDudeSpidey is right, it could show how Tony & Steve are getting caught up in the conflict, while Spidey is saving civilains. It would bring them back to their senses when they see what Spidey is doing.

That's why Spider-Man will be the most popular Avenger come Infinity Wars! ;)

What?

What, is that news? Why else do you think Sony entered this deal?

In Pascal's emails to Ike and her underlings she specifically brings up the potential of having Iron Man and Cap in the next Spider-Man in exchange for having in the MCU. She also expects there to be a sharing of profits from MCU films with Spider-Man appearances (um nope). Ike makes it clear that the benefit would be for Sony and Spider-Man and not the MCU. It helps Marvel but in terms of merchandising $.

That isn't the current version of the deal.

No, I know all of that... obviously Sony will profit off having Spidey in the MCU, but you're saying that they're using Civil War as a means to "resuscitate" Spider-Man at the BO. He doesn't need resuscitating, he just needs a good movie.

He needs resuscitating and a good movie. In the US he's lost almost 2/3rds of his audience since Spider-Man (2002) and more than half since Spider-Man 3.

He needs something that will set this incarnation apart from the others especially with the speed of another re-boot, and that's his involvement with the MCU.

Yes, it's not what Pascal thought or hoped she'd get

The MCU gets to use Spider-Man without payment and without sharing any revenues. In return Feige and the MCU produce Spider-Man for Sony without a cut of the film - though they get paid for their labor as part of production costs. There is also the ability to loan out MCU characters to Sony for SM but the specifics are vague and can be dependent on negotiating separate deals with the actors.

Don't know who to side with.. MyDudeSpidey or Tailsman. I think both of you are right. Spidey movies have been on a steady decline at the box office, and the MCU will breath new life into the franchise. But part of the reason Spidey's movies have been grossing less and less is because of the poor quality of the films.. So.. yeah.

I hope both Cap and Tony becomes Spidey's mentor. One to train in combat, the other building gadgets for the young hero.

I think Spidey peaked with Sam Raimis films. I dont count the ones after. Hopefully MCU webhead will be a return to the level of style/coolness of the Maguire/Raimi version.

Agreed. 3 was a bust because Raimi was forced into things, but the first two ruled.

Peter doesn't and shouldn't need Stark to build any gadgets for him. He's always been smart enough to build his own i.e Webfluid, Webshooters, Spider tracers, Spider signal just to name a few.

That's one of the things I absolutely HATE about the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

At the very least. You have to have Spidey give Stark a run for his money in the quipping/comeback department,

IM: No offense kid, but that costume is kinda trash.
Spidey: I plan to upgrade.
IM: I have upgraded.
Spidey: Funny, I don't remember asking,
IM: Hey, I...um
Widow: Did a kid just shut Tony up?
Rhodey: Definately the end of the world.

I dunno I like coming up with scenarios. Something like that would be hilarious.

He'll be quippy for sure, pretty much all MCU heroes are. Still think he won't out quip Stark. RDJ ad libs and it's probably in is contract to get the final quip in a scene.

Personally think the most likely to out quip Stark is Lang or eventually Quill due to Rudd and Pratt.

There's no need to turn Spider-Man into a total Mary Sue. Have him save civilians, sure. But why make the other heroes look bad? Having civilians being in danger because of Cap and Iron Man fighting would make them look like terrible human beings. Steve and Tony, more than Spider-Man understand how important saving people is. They've had the weight of the world on their shoulders, while Spider-Man is still a newbie. If anything, Peter would make more mistakes and the veterans would have to school him on a few things. Young kids are usually more impulsive and more prone to mistake than adults.

I hope Tony and Peter do similar wisecracky stuff. The MCU always needs that regardless of the whiners.

Spider Man is the king of being in deadly situations and making light of it.
