It was a rough weekend.

I went in for my annual last week, and my doctor called Friday to inform me I tested positive for chlamydia. ChLaMyDiA?! I'm married and have been in a monogamous relationship for the last five years, so needless to say, I was **cking shocked and horrified. I told her there must be a mistake and her response was basically, "Honey, it's an STD. If you didn't do it, he did." Nice. Then she let me know she had to report it to the health department. Awesome! I work in a cubicle so my responses were rather stilted and I couldn't ask everything I wanted to. Thankfully, she called at the end of the day, so I slammed my laptop shut and practically ran out of the building.

I told my hubby as soon as I got home and he immediately insisted he didn't do anything. After talking with him, I had (have) absolutely ZERO reason to doubt him - but, I mean, it's a frickin' STD, right? So my brain conjures every horrible scene I don't want to imagine. I went with him to our regular doctor so he could be tested, and she saw how distressed I was and suggested I retest. We knew we'd been faithful, yet we felt "dirty". This all happened Friday. By Sunday I was kind of over it because it was obvious my hubby wasn't hiding anything. He would have to be the coldest, most heartless bastard to pull off that act.

The doc finally called Tuesday and confirmed what we already believed. BOTH NEGATIVE!! :word: This whole ******ed experience ultimately made us stronger and validated our trust in each other. But still - WTF?!?!

I'm rather appalled my first doc didn't suggest I get retested before taking the Zithromax she prescribed. Thank god I went with my husband before going to the pharmacy and was still able to retest. A marriage could be on the line, and you don't acknowledge there could have been a mistake in the testing? That's effed up. I made it very clear to her when she first told me that I didn't think that could be right and she practically responded, "Your husband cheated on you." I want to go make a Jerry Maguire scene in the damn lobby and take their fish.

So, the moral of the story is: ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION!!!

Has this ever happened to you??

The real moral is: A $100 bill can pay even the best doctor off.:o

No, thank god. Glad it worked out for ya.

Whoa, thats fked up. But, I'm glad everything is okay now.

Maybe the second test was wrong. You should take another one from a different doctor. Think of it as trying to win a best of 3 series.

did you tell the original doctor about the second set of test results?

I say go for the World Series and have 7!!!

Seriously, take another one. Either could be right. You are at 50/50 right now.

Why stop at three?

You can never be too safe. :cwink:

I'd considered it, but if I had it, he would, and if he had it, I would. So, both of us coming back negative is enough for me.

I can't say I have had a false postive for an STD.

Yeah, make sure you try another doc.

I had gone to the dentist a few months back and he told me I had 6 cavities and would have to go through some $1,000 buck procedure so that my teeth wouldn't erode away.

I slightly believed him because I'm addicted to chocolate.

My madre took me to another guy and he said that my teeth looked perfect...

We're with the second doctor now, and we evaded paying a thousand buckaroonies.

First off, glad you got a clean bill of health.

And yes, second opinions are the best. I had a doc tell me I had two legs. He practically lied :down

Oh, you're new-ish here, sorry.

I'm missing my right leg, from birth [Don't do drugs whilst preggo, kids!], and its somewhat a, pardon the pun, running joke that I bring it up whenever I see comedicially fit.

That gag must have cost you an arm and a leg.

Stop me if you've heard this one...

What do you think of Flushing, New York?

- I think it's a good idea. *rimshot*

I was lucky and got it half off. Just like my pedicure!

When you said the doctor 'practically lied', I expected a penis joke was coming. To see you play it straight, I'm kinda disappointed, Drak. :(

I've been on the site longer than you.

I never heard about the leg thing though.
