The fact that Peter unmasked himself to the whole world. Thats what made him interesting him struggling to live a double life. Now he's gonna be the friggin Hulk. Damn it JMS!!! I loved you and supported you when Aunt May find out Petes secret. Then Mourlun who looked like Morbius but clean. Those were the good ol days remember Amazing Spider-man# 30 - 37? Then The wonderful creation of Ezekeial who I loved then you created that moth girl or whatever. Gwen Stacey children factor I liked alot, Pete movin in with the Avengers wasnt bad. Then you killed Spidey and everything went North. (meanin bad) You gave him a new suit. BUT WHY UNMASK him to the country?!?!?! Ok it works great with DD because the world thinks Matt Murdock is DD. Damn it! You guys I hope Doc Strange pulls a superman and turns the world back a few days before Pete unmask himself. That will be beautiful.

Does anyone else hate how Pete acted in the new issue of Civil War.

He went from not wanting to fight any of his old friends and feeling lied to and manipulated in the last issue to going all gung ho about it and taunting everyone. It was a complete 180. I hated it

How could you even think that you're the only one? It's a fairly widely detested decision.

Perhaps because he was reading other message boards? :D Heck, reading the response to the unmasking over in Newsarama nearly drove me to the brink of insanity.

Your not the only one.Spider-Man wears a mask for a reason, its a shame Marvel is willing to throw those reasons away for profit.

I was surprised reading some of the other message baords too.....some people are all gung ho for the current treatment of this character.

They love new costumes, the love spidey exposing himself, they love spidey totem pole origins and new powers...claws outta his wrist, new relaunches,...everything and anything Joey Q. and his minions throw at them for that month's shock and awe event.

Everyone has their own tastes i guess...i mean, there are some movies for instance that everyone pans for good reason...and somewhere, someone will go to that movie and like it. As if they have the urge to try and like garbage and stand out. People will passionately defend anything.

With Spider-man however, a character with such a rich history and large longtime fan base, I don't know how Marvel/Joey Q/Writers can justify writing stories that are an insult to the character and a slap to the face of long time fans everywhere.

Change is good, and there's been a lot of it over the years....some I haven't liked maybe at first, but made some sense...but betraying a character outright in a way that isn't logical stinks. There isn't any respect shown lately to him, and it isn't a tribute to that character or the long time fans or anything that we've wanted. It is just a money making ploy, for Civil War specifically (the unmasking )...but that must now trickle down into all Spider-Man comics in general while we are left waiting for the character we've always loved to be returned to the comics, and to stop being written like he is a wet dish rag.

(and how about some respect for Spidey's supporting cast too!!)

Spider-man is about putting others first, protecting others, going home sad if needs be, just so long as he did what was right and he knew that he had made good decisions.

He is not one to be intimidated or put the lives of everyone he knows or doesn't know in danger. He has a classic costume. He is the everyman. He is an icon.

Now he doens't even need to wear ANY costume...his "Iron Octopus" one or his classic red and blues. They might as well just draw Pete on the covers and in the comics as himself, in his own clothes, fighting villians attacking his fam, friends and neighborhood...maybe just wearing a Spidey headband or something to remind us who the character was "supposed to be"...oy.

Bring back the fun. Bring back Spidey. This current one has to be an evil clone....lol....either that or Marvel employees have been breathing in some bad fumes over there at that building....something is way far whack here.

this is what i be talking about. IT WAS MILLAR WHO UNMASKED HIM FIRST!!! JMS had to go with the flow. i'm glad you liked the things he did, but dont get mad at him for something he didn't

No, Millar said that that event was ALL Joey Q's doing. :(

I don't EVEN know what you just said...
(Guess I need a COMICBOY to English dictionary. :) )

But just to be clear... Mark Millar’s comment on his forum:

“I had a million big surprises already planned for MCW. There’s scenes coming up and twists on characters that will blow you away, I promise, but this one [the unmasking] was entirely Joe Q. The idea worked well with the concept and, to be honest, I’d have had him on the other side, but the rationale they had was a good one and so I came up with the TV camera way of doing it. But the blame for this one lies with Joe essentially”

can't you guys just have one offical spider-man complaint thread. there's far too many.

Spider-man sold his soul in the latest Civil War.:(

A few panels made me completely turn against my child hood hero. Meh whatever, Spider-man acted like an ass.

What makes you say that? Name something in particular.

Funny, I was annoyed at Cap...

Spider-man would have never turned his back on Captain America and Daredevil. Iron Man talks about "not wanting to fight" yet throws the first punch by setting up this childish trap and taking down 2 of Cap's teammates with cheap shots. Then Spider-man goes on to actually mock Captain America like Cap is a regular thug. Through out the years, Spider-man has made it clear over and over that he respects Cap more then any man. He looks up to him. This was not Spider-man at all. I won't even get started on Spider-man attacking Daredevil. That was even worse.:(

what i was trying to say was spideydave shouldn't blame JMS for unmasking peter. He was upset about peter unmasking and went right on blaming JMS. i said millar is the one who unmasked peter, but you're right. Joey Q put the order in to write peter being unmasked, so HE'S(joey q) the one to blame, not Millar or JMS. ok? vbmenu_register("postmenu_9560864", true);

if you wanna know what REALLY happened in civil war 3, read Captivated's first post with the link in this thread.

I got the impression that he really believed that Cap would come around... that this was all a misunderstanding that could be worked out, if they could just nail everyone down long enough to dialog about it. I don't think Cap is acting like himself either... and technically he threw the first punch at Spidey.

I've always enjoyed the relationship that Spider-man has with Captain America. He basically looks up to him like he did Uncle Ben. He was actually mocking Captain America like Cap is a thug.

"Careful Cap...You could take a guys eye out with that thing....like these poor schmucks for instance"...

then he goes on to attack Daredevil???

Come on now...DAREDEVIL!?!?!

I'm sorry...Spider-man was so out of character in that battle.

Spider-man has always been defined as the underdog willing to stand up for his beliefs no matter what. He always held his secret identity close to him. He guarded it with his life. He sold out with that and turned his back on Captain America. A man he constantly describes as a "true hero".

That's not Spider-man.

it's not like DD was matt (his friend) so i dont think it really matters

He not only beats up his childhood icon, but mocks him, his stance and all the others as well. And Cap throws his shield at him, because he was smacking around the Patriot. As well he takes down both Wiccan and Cloak with tranqs from behind, makes light of it, and than gives some orders to a overhead helicopter.

Who the **** is this *******!? This is not how Spidey should act, it is one of the biggest mischaracterizations of the character since waaaay back to the 2000 Annual, where he tries to get into MJ's pants the whole issue, a couple of days after she was kidnapped and held hostage by some lunatic

^but.he'll.switch.sides. sigh.

doesn't really matter...

first of all, it's so painfully obvious that he WILL switch sides that it loses all of its impact

also, by the time the inevitable happens and one of his family gets hurt because of his idiotic decision, he will already have acted like such an a$$hole and such a sellout, that people will not feel bad for MJ or May, but will think along the lines of "he had it coming". it's already happening.

Civil War is all about good ideas, but terrible execution.

That's exactly how I feel right now at the moment.

I need to read some back issues to get my love for the character back.lol

But yea, I don't really care for what happens to Spider-man at the moment.

Sell out!:spidey: :(
