Wasn't this issue supposed to be out by now? I had read that the first installment of the "Mr. and Mrs. Spider-Man" storyline (set in the M2 universe, BTW) was going to feature the Lizard.

The whole M2 thing with MJ and Pete still being married kind of seems like a bone that's being thrown to fans of the Parker marriage of course.

Ron Frenz and Sal Buscema are doing the art? I'm having flashbacks to the 1980s!

Looks like they're going with the original Ditko version Lizard. Not my favorite, but interesting none the less.

Which version's your favorite, Liz?

Hmm...tough call because I do like several of the various depictions of Lizzy. I'll always have a soft spot for Romita's version from the '60s, although that Lizard has no teeth or claws. I guess Mark Bagley's Lizard is the one that sums up all the cool aspects of the Lizard I like best. I just wish Bagley had drawn more Lizard stories back when he was doing ASM.

BTW, I had Bagley himself do a sketch of Lizzy in my "all-Lizard sketchbook" that I take to conventions. Cool stuff.

Bagley's was great! That big anniversary issue of ASM he did really stood out. (#365 iirc)..

My favorite version was done by John Buscema in ASM #76 and #77...to me, that was the only version that actually looked like a Lizard. (at least the ones we had in our backyards down in Florida)...

Also, though it's not directly comic related, thought you should know there's a new Lizard figure due out soon (although you probably are already aware of that :word: )...

Sweet figure. You're always reliable with the Lizard updats, CS.

I also just ordered a couple of the "super deformed" Marvel mini figures of the Lizard from the UK "Corinthian" figurine series. :woot:

I just wanted to give a bump to this thread, because I was reading about this Mr & Mrs Spider-Man. It seems to connect 616 continuity (I know that's a funny word here nowadays) to Spider-Girl. Basically it sounds like back just before the Byrne re-boot (yet another great idea), when Pete was going after "May," this time it really is baby May, like it was originally planned and NOT Aunt May (oh the woman who died in the beautiful ASM 400 was just an actress).

This sounds like the path things SHOULD have gone. Following this storyline, what do we lose?

Return of Aunt May (issue 400 was an actress)
Gathering of the Five (replaced with battle where Spider-Man loses leg & GG dies)
Byrne reboot
MJ blown up
MJ & Pete separated
Magical origin
Sins Past
The Other
Turning into a giant spider (again)
Unmasked
One More Day
Brand New Day

What's not to like?

Interesting story, although I never like it when the Lizard changes back to Connors simply as a result of being reminded that he IS Connors. It looks like the story of Martha and Billy getting sick from toxic waste in Florida is being used here, but I wonder if Martha will end up dying in the M2 universe like she did in the 616 universe.

Darn it! The comic book store I went to was sold out of this! I've been waiting for this! Looks good. Did Pete & MJ have baby May or do they still have to find her?

May is shown sleeping in a crib in Pete & MJ's apartment, so it looks like it's just normal family life for the Parkers.

Thanks, Lizard.

Rats, I was kind of hoping we got to see the alternate storyline in which Pete finds baby May instead of Aunt May. Or was this already told in Spider-Girl? I know they said Kaine was involved.

So, I assume in this timeline, the real Aunt May died in ASM 400, right?

Got to get my hands on this.

It's never revealed how Kaine got May back to Peter, just that he had her when she originally disappeared as a baby. That's a story waitin' to be told. And it's safe to assume ASM 400 happened the way it happened.

Just picked it up today and I must say, Alex Cal is one of my new fave Spider-Man artists. This is the best work I've seen in a looooooong time.

Also, the colors compliment his very nicely as well. Does anyone know what other stuff he's done/will do? I'd love to see more.

His Spidey's web design pattern looks a lot like Ditko's!

So maybe we'll get that story in this series. I guess it would be a flashback since Pete & MJ have May back already. That story is suppose to replace the story where Aunt May comes back, thus where this new series diverges from 616 to M2.

It is nice work, and the webbing is bery much Ditko-esque...

However, I find the Spider-Insignia on his chest way too big for my liking...

Good stuff though...

I'll be picking the book up this weekend.

:yay:

I'm thinking about picking it up myself, is it worth it guys? Plus i heard that there's a reprint of ASM 300 in it, if thats true then i'm definitely picking it up, i've always wanted to read that.
