Ordered To Series
Turn, based on Alexander Rose’s book Washington Spies, was written by Craig Silverstein who exec produces with Barry Josephson. Set in the summer of 1778, New York farmer Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell) bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who turn the tide in America’s fight for independence. Rupert Wyatt directed the pilot.
Sounds plenty interesting. I'd be up for giving this a look.

I like period pieces and AMC does it well with Mad Men and Hell on Wheels.

The Culper Ring were uysed in an episode of White Collar and I thought then that they'd make for an interesting show or film.

Hopefully the series will have Agent 355 (their mysterious lone female agent) and Bendict Arnold as a recurring characters on the show.

Definitely can't wait for this to show up sometime in 2014. Breaking Bad's departure makes room for the summer.

Looking forward to this. Craig Silverstein is a great showrunner, imo.

Should hopefully see a trailer sometime this fall on The Walking Dead, likely the mid-season finale. With Breaking Bad, The Killing and Low Winter Sun (give it one more week) not returning next year, there are some holes on the schedule for the 10 episode season.

2014
Feb/Mar The Walking Dead on Sundays
Apr/May/June Mad Men on Sundays
Aug/Sep Hell on Wheels on Saturdays
Oct/Nov The Walking Dead on Sundays

The trailer didn't sell me. Love the premise but I have low expectations.

Aw man, I'd just assumed it would be premiering after Mad Men. I'll try and check out the pilot soon.

There is some parts of the pilot that I didn't like, it's a bit slow and confusing at times. However, it's strongly acted (particularly by Bell) & handsomely shot and they're unfolding an intriguing part of the Revolutionary War that hasn't been depict before, so the show has promise. Also, I had no idea that Matt Berninger contributed to the theme song for this. So that got a plus from me.

I don't know if I'm going to stick with it, but I did enjoy the pilot and plan to watch the next episode. I feel like this show dodged a bullet that absolutely kills other period/historical TV shows for me, and that's that I feel like most of the time you can very clearly see the lack of a proper budget on screen. Even season one of Game of Thrones* felt very "small" and generally constrained by the budget in opinion. Turn on the other hand, didn't have any huge special effects scenes or anything, but all the costumes, sets, and locations looked believable.

*I'm very much aware than Game of Thrones is fantasy and not a real period piece. :P

Caught this on DVR, it has potential. There's only 10 episodes in the first season so hopefully things pick up.

I thought the production values were fine, but it did have some pacing problems.

The ratings were terrible up against Game of Thrones but DVR viewing may help.

TURN 0.5, 2.12M
GoT 3.6, 6.64M

If it dips down to a 0.3 for a few episodes I don't see a second season happening. This is a lower premiere number than Low Winter Sun and then that show's numbers nose dived.

So just don't get too attached to Turn unless things improve.

Saw the pilot. I'll keep watching.

Oh wow, I totally forgot Low Winter Son was even a thing, haha.

Putting this show up against GOT was either hubris or suicide.

Cosmos (FOX), GOT (HBO), Resurrection (ABC) all come on at 9pm on Sunday. What the hell was AMC thinking?

..more like 'what were they smoking'...

It's a shame, because the premier was pretty good. It could likely be a good show...if it had a chance and wasn't on AMC. If it somehow gets another season it will have its budget slashed. Then it will happen again and again until it's either cancelled or not worth a damn anymore.

I've been meaning to watch this show & I caught up on it to watch the most recent episode.

So far, the acting is very good and while the story is unfolding somewhat slowly, it's worth watching in my opinion. It also helps that some of the location shooting done in Virginia is close to where I grew up, so that's kinda neat to see.

Really, my main criticism so far is that there's a bunch of scenes where characters are basically whispering and it's hard to make out everything they're saying. That and the fact that it's hard to tell apart all the uniformed redcoat characters (at least the featured ones), as they have a tendency to blend together sometimes.
