She did get a few big breaks in Bollywood but she hasn't exactly found her footing in our tinsel town just yet. So this is a big step up for her. Girl's going places for sure.

Wigs usually end up looking pretty stupid, and though it says she is a recurring guest...I would hate to think she has to go totally blond for a few episodes.

I can understand Melissa going lighter, and I can understand the young actress playing young Kara going lighter from brunette....One is a long term star of the show, and the other plays her younger counterpart....but as far as Saturn Girl...seems like a waste of time.

When I hear the name Saturn Girl, I immediately think of blonde telepath girl from Saturn.

look at the image you posted to start the thread. Saturn Girl is blonde. that's who she is.

Just like Kara is a blonde.

Superman has dark hair. Batman has dark hair. Why wasn't Supergirl's Superman blonde or red haired, then?

I know there will be changes. And the show has already made changes ( Jimmy is black and bald and tall and handsome.....lol ) But, I'd like for them to stick to the source material as closely as possible. that's just my preference.

if you aren't going to keep the visual identities of these characters, then why bother using them?

as an example, I've been watching the entire Smallville series.

I just watched the episode where the Legion showed up to help Clark. as soon as I saw a blonde girl with telepathic powers, I immediately knew that was Saturn Girl before they even introduced her.

that's her visual identity. If you google Saturn Girl and pull up images of the character, what do you see? A blonde girl. Animated versions, comic versions, live action versions. All blonde. And if a character has such a consistent visual identity, why change it?

If Saturn Girl is going to be dark/raven haired, then why not make her Phantom Girl instead? Or make her Raven from the Titans.

It may sound like a nitpick, and it may not change the actual character, but for me, it's an important detail. And I'm a stickler for details........lol.

I wouldn't want a live action Disney Little Mermaid to have a blonde Ariel. Ariel is a red head. That's her established visual identity. Why change it?

also, hair color aside, I'm more interested in her actual power set on the show.

the press release says she has telekinetic powers. but SG is known as a telepath.

I'm assuming they'll just be giving her both powers, since they kind of go hand in hand.

however, if they take away her telepathy and give her telekinesis instead, then that WOULD be changing her character, moreso than whatever hair color she has.

I'll be more ticked if they change her powerset to telekinesis and no telepathy. I think she should have both, cuz they go hand in hand. but she must have telepathy.

I am curious about the ethnicity of the actress, though. It says she's a Bollywood actress, so I'm assuming she's Indian?

I'm thinking that for cost purposes, they went with Saturn Girl instead of both so they have combined their origins to a point. Saturn Girl would be the one to go with because she is much more prominent in the Legion....as far as I can tell.

or, if you want total accuracy and fidelity to the source material, only a true native from Saturn's moon Titan ( a Titan?? ) can play an alien from Saturn's moon Titan.

also, Amy is prettier than Melissa, imo. So Saturn Girl flies rings around Supergirl if you ask me.
