An interesting idea...or at least I think so

What if they took a modern original film (which is really hard to come by these days :ninja: ) and remade it, only they made the remake look like an old film and tailored it to seem as though the modern film could have come from that. Of course, fans would know what was trying to be achieved with the picture; I'm not trying to say that this would be secretive or anything, as if they tried to pass it as an actual dated film, but it could be cool if advertised as a sort of "What if" project. With so many remakes coming out these days, this could be an interesting twist. What do you guys think? Would there even be a market for this?

Well, that's what I was wondering...do people really have the patience for those types of films anymore? Old movies are often watched simply to be made aware of and appreciated, but I honestly find them to be a bit of a drag sometimes. But, I thought, if you took a popular modern film, this would add a sense of intruige to the thing.

Elaborate, perhaps?

And that is one crusty baby.

Right.

So, what's so *yawn* about the idea?

It would be just like making a remake. People watch remakes.

Do you mean, for example .... remake the Matrix but use 1970s effects and picture quality?

Or ...... remake Se7en but set it in the 1940s and film it in black and white.

Well, wasn't Grindhouse just trying to reemulate a certain type of film/theatre experience? My idea is to take an actual modern film (once a good, original one comes along) and yes, as livrule suggested, remake it in a fashion that makes the remake seem as though it was the original. Now, I don't think The Matrix is the proper film for this treatment, but, I guess that's debatable.
