Andor General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: In the trailer for season 2, we see Orson Krennic and Jyn. Are they going to be in season 2, or is that just teasing the run-up to Rogue One?

TONY GILROY: I'm not gonna answer that question fully.
Jyn in the trailer? ¿Where?
I mean I would love to see it, time-line would certainly allow for her to appear somewhere, (though unbeknownst to Andor).
Though WTF are they on about in the trailer?

And then Gilroy instead of flat out saying no she isn't , skirts the question?

In case anyone didn’t already know, the first three episodes have been put on YouTube. Honestly, really smart marketing tactic to raise even more awareness and to get people to watch, hooked and on board before season two release.

I expect them to put the whole season up there eventually. Learn a lesson from Paramount's marketing.

Anyone want an Andor like fix, I suggest Reign of the Empire: Mask of Fear. I already had to put the book down a few times because the first Mon Mothma chapter was scarily, scarily relevant to current events.

‘Why Help the F—ing Robots?’

:funny:
Gilroy had been planning to release the scripts for the show’s first season in a book format that fans could purchase, similar to shows such as HBO’s “Succession.” However, the rise of AI effectively killed that plan.
Would loved to have read that.
“I wanted to do it,” Gilroy said about releasing the scripts. “We put it together. It’s really cool. I’ve seen it, I loved it. AI is the reason we’re not. In the end, it would be 1,500 pages that came directly off this desk. I mean, terribly sadly, it’s just too much of an X-ray and too easily absorbed. Why help the f___g robots anymore than you can?
I sympathizes with where he's coming from.
While I can see AI easily writing tropes and chapters for the more generic easy to love SW and fans, yet:

AI write me a SW show: about possibly the least liked, least celebrated SW character, who you first meet shooting someone in the back, grimly carries the weight of that kill (and others), to survive one more day in the shadows, as a fugitive in every strata, with nothing left in the world except to die, for a cause, and world, that has stripped him of his own humanity.
AI: Melt-down.

AI has nothing without the human element, the unique methodical and compelling character focus, Gilroy and his team bring to the series.

Now that's the hype,
While the first trailer was off-brand fun, in a clumsy attempt to draw in those still on the fence.
This trailer has all the intense character beats, explosive tension and methodical buildup, the series is known for.

With Gilroy hyping up the Ghorman masacre, I am hoping that Filoni allows Gilroy to overwrite some of the Mon Mothma stuff Filoni did in Rebels.

At the bare minimum, allow O'Reilly to look better than she did in Rogue One.

Never saw the Filoni take, yet I'm guessing this massacre is Mothma's outing (open defiance), and no turning back point?

I don't feel Mothma looked bad in R1, from what I recall, they were talking about disbanding, committing the full alliance force to this one suicide mission and open war, was dividing and pulling the council apart, and it would out them. (for some Draven had already crossed a line attacking an imperial base).
And though she might be willing, it was pretty much a sacrifice she couldn't ask others to make.

On the other hand, that's exactly what Andor and his click of self described. "Spies, Saboteurs, Assassins" were already doing, ready and willing to sacrifice themselves on a possible suicide mission.
Nobody had to ask it from them.
It's what Luthen imbued in them.

She then (despite the Council's trepidation) conspires with Organa, to go ahead with it all...

Witch transmits to what the Rebellion is knowingly willing to do, on a glimmer of hope.

The episode in Rebels showed a broadcast of her attacking Palpatine for the Ghorman massacre, which is what forced her to flee the Senate. She then gives a brief speech that "unites" the various Rebels into the Alliance. Given some of the good speeches we got in season 1,

As for her look, yeah, I get they were trying make her look like Caroline Blakiston in ROTJ, it was just a shock to see her in Rogue One after Andor and even Ahsoka.

She more than likley gets her moments. She's not hiding that she knows what's coming.

Oh you were just talking about her physical appearance. They will be jumping one year ahead every three episodes for 4 years, so yeah she should have a few looks, approaching towards the familiar one in R1.
More focused on her character arc, and how she holds that Alliance together.

Those are TIE Advanced V1s. There is no way they are acknowledging Inquisitors.
