In a Variety article talking about how Forest Whitaker will star in "ER" episodes next season, the trade mentions that the actor took over the role from Andre Braugher.

Braugher, an NBC veteran from his days on "Homicide: Life on the Street," was supposed to play a patient who enters the hospital with a seemingly innocent cough but suffers a stroke while waiting to be treated. He'll be heading to the bigscreen instead, co-starring in the Fox sequel "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," which is in pre-production.

I hope there is no puppet master!!! Maybe there can be a cameo OR he can be in the beginning of the film fighting the F4 where F4 defeat him.

I don't know man BUT one think i know for sure is that F4 has already tied with spider-man 3 as my most anticipated movie of 2007!!!!!!!!!

Even if he is Phillip Masters, he doesn't have to go crazy until the next flick. Just setting up future characters.

Finally we've got some casting news! Braugher is a good actor and though he's not a 'star' name he's a welcome addition to the FF cast. Plus he's an Emmy award winner too.

Besides Alicia's dad he could also be playing the ''tough, confident U.S. military man" Story and co have apparently been searching for.

You're right its a deleted scene on the 2-disc dvd.I think they're going to add it to the director's cut.

OMG! I LOVE him (though honestly I never knew what his name was). He was great in Glory.

He's got a fantastic voice . . . could he be doing the voice for the surfer with CGI and Doug Jones doing the rest?

He would be great as puppetmaster also. What about that military guy we saw the casting call for? *Edit - I was so excited, I missed Retro's post speculating the same thing*

No matter who he's going to be, this is good news.

Everything we've gotten about this film in recent weeks has been very good news: the great choice of Doug Jones for the Silver Surfer, WETA doing the FX (!!!) an improved Doom, a bigger brow for the Thing, a better lab and gadgets for Reed, a improved Baxter Building complete with "4" logos...
And now Andre Braugher, an excellent character actor.

Gee, how are they gonna make this one suck??


As for Braugher, my money's on a Phillip Masters cameo.
Little touches like Dr. Connors (pre-Lizard) in Spidey 1 & 2 really helped make those films fun for the fans.

Don't have a CLUE as to which role he'd play, by Braugher is a "serious" actor...what a pick-up. Since Alicia is adopted, he doesn't have to be puppet master, but WHO could he be???
