very odd. i have seen NOTHING about it. but there is another Dan Brown book coming out, Solomon Key, so im expecting some big news with the release, or publicity of that book.

Quite perfect. The DVC video game also had an excellent version of the character, since it opted to follow the book rather than the film.

yea the game was actually fun, for puzzle solvers...

still no news on this movie?

apparently yes... my filmhistory teacher is my source, hes been right 9 times outta 10.

I'm surprised this movie isn't a major pre-strike priority with the studio. You'd expect it to be. I wonder what the hold-up is?

Angels & Demons to Start Filming in February
Source: Variety October 25, 2007

Just yesterday, the Los Angeles Times published an article talking about how Akiva Goldsman is writing non-stop to finish the script for The Da Vinci Code sequel Angels & Demons before the writers strike is expected to happen on Nov. 1.

Now, Variety adds that Columbia Pictures has set a February start date for the film, again to be directed by Ron Howard for a December 19, 2008 release. The trade says the production has begun casting around Tom Hanks, who will reprise his role as Robert Langdon.

Hanks' character, a Harvard-based expert on religious symbols, this time sleuths a mystery that involves a secret society and a conspiracy that leads to Vatican City and threatens the future of the Catholic Church.

Dan Brown wrote "Angels & Demons" prior to "The Da Vinci Code," but after the first film grossed $218 million domestic and $758 million worldwide, the studio made a deal with Goldsman to turn the earlier novel into a sequel.

did he?

They made a mistake in that. It's a prequel not a sequel.

Angels & Delays
Columbia postpones Da Vinci Code follow-up.
by Stax

US, November 16, 2007 - Columbia Pictures has opted to delay the start of filming on its Da Vinci Code follow-up Angels & Demons, which was to have started shooting this February in Europe. Ron Howard is attached to direct from a screenplay adaptation of the Dan Brown book by Akiva Goldsman. Tom Hanks has been set to reprise his role as symbologist Robert Langdon.

In a statement from the studio provided to DeadlineHollywoodDaily.com, "With the strike nearing its third week, Columbia Pictures has postponed production of Angels & Demons. While the filmmakers and the studio feel the screenplay is very strong, we do not believe it is the fully-realized production draft required of this ambitious project."

"At this time, there is no new start date for Angels & Demons, but we are setting a release date of May 15, 2009 and are hopeful to deliver the movie worldwide to theaters on that date. We do not expect any other film on our 2008 slate to be affected."

No word yet on what Howard or Hanks will do as their next project instead.

Naomi Watts in Angels & Demons?
Source: New York Post November 21, 2007

According to the New York Post, Naomi Watts will star opposite Tom Hanks in director Ron Howard's Angels & Demons, the prequel to The Da Vinci Code.

The film was delayed late last week due to the writers strike and is now scheduled to hit theaters on May 15, 2009.

Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons," published in 2000, introduced the Robert Langdon character played by Tom Hanks in "Code." In "Angels," Langdon's character tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave.

now, i can't see naomi as Vittoria, she's suppose to be italian...

lol Naomi Watts is a great actress but she doesn't look like an italian woman at all.

so i started to reread the book last night, the opening with him dreaming (two paragraphs lol) i would love to see but with Sophie. I think it would be an interesting way to start the film.

i liked the Da Vinci Code movie, and was very shocked that it got horrible reviews....

So i'll probably most defiantly like this film.

the angels and demons book was leaps and bounds better than the da vinci code IMO
