For the other Christians out there... I was just curious on your opinion on this? I've heard it for years that Dogs, Cats, and other animals do not have souls and cannot go to heaven, but I've never once found proof of this in the Bible. Does anyone know anywhere in the Bible where it might support this? What's your thoughts on it?

My reasoning for asking this is because I just held my German Sheopard as it died (sudden and unexpectedly) in my back yard and she was my buddy. I'm an adult and I can handle it either way, but I don't know really one way or the other what our faith says on animals going to heaven. So I'm just curious what other people think.

All dogs go to heaven. The other animals? Not so much. Although strangely sunflowers make it to the place in the clouds as well... go figure.

Now see, I was going to go with "All dogs go to heaven, cats are just ****ed." but I like yours better.

I've always wondered that too:o

It would be potentially awkward if they do. I mean, most, if not all of us go through 2 or 3 pets in our lifetimes. So, this could happen...

*Johnny enters into Heaven*
JOHNNY: Woah, so, this is Heaven. Sweet. *looks around* Ooh, a bar!
*Guy walks to the bar, sees his childhood dog*
JOHNNY: Mort!
MORT: Johnny!
JOHNNY: Holy crap, you just talked!
MORT: Yeah, we can speak Human in Heaven.
JOHNNY: Cool!
MORT: Yep, wanna play?
JOHNNY: Sure!
*Johnny goes to Mort...then sees his lifetime dog*
JOHNNY: Lucky! You're here too?
LUCKY: 'Course. Wanna play?
JOHNNY: I want to, but...uh...
*Johnny looks at Mort & Lucky, both wanting to play with him alone*
JOHNNY: Huh...this is awkward.

i sure as hell hope so.

rip lightning :(

What are you like four?

Way to be an ******* Kritish.:whatever:

Jewhob, wherever they be, just take solace in the fact that they are probably in a better place.

I love how you say that yet your signiture is Lord of the flies and your location is south of heaven and if you believe in hell you believe in heaven right?

Um, no...just because my custom title and signature have some paranormal reference doesn't mean I believe in them.

Uh sorry for your loss. I have a dog and I love him very much, but (although Kritish was far too insensitive) I kind of agree, this is a childish question. If souls exist, or souls are something intangible that lives on after a life perishes than everything must therefore have a soul. Just because we think at a higher and more developed level than a dog or a fish doesn't put our life above theirs. If we have a soul, then they also have a soul since we are not more special than they are.

I just say things that others are afraid to...

I actually agree with you (though I'm at a loss as to why this is a childish question). My main wondering is where some people get the idea that animals do not have a soul, and thus, cannot get to heaven(for those who believe in heaven, as I do). I believe they go to heaveon 100%, but if there's something in the bible that may say otherwise and I've missed it, I'd like to know where it is so I can read it and figure out if it's something legit or something people just heard and say without know if it's 'true.'

As long as you believe they do, thats all thats important.

I don't see where people thought of that either.
Animals feel, think, and react to things just like we do. They have personalities.
I've had two dogs in my life, one passed on when I was eight (That year sucked for me, BIG TIME), and the other is still alive but getting old.
I like to think that when I die, I'll be able to see two of the "people" I loved. Both are important parts of my life, and I hope they will become important parts of my afterlife.
And I'm sorry for your loss. What was your dogs name?

I was debating on saying some harsh things to you Kritish, but I'll opt out. You continue acting '4' if you want. Frankly, I've never expected anything more out of you.

Depends on whether you consider Anna Nicole an animal or not. Hey ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm sorry that was probably too soon.:csad:

Her name was Kaci. I had a German Sheopard when I was a kid and I loved that dog (Sarge) but he tried to jump the fence with a chain on and hung himself. I was torn up about it when I found him and always wanted another one to kinda replace him and I got Kaci a few months back. I think I'm done with dogs for a while, at least until my daughters are older and can take care of one.

My old dog used to jump the fence till she got arthritis.
We didn't get another dog for two years, and I hated that period. I used to have this rope swing in my backyard, and everytime I would play with it, it reminded me of Nugget. She was a Golden Retriever/ Lad mix.

How old was she? You said you got her a few months ago.

I don't particularly know where people get the idea either. I mostly hear this "animals don't have souls" thing on television, specifically in comedy shows when they attempt to mock religion. So I'm not sure it's something that is all that central to belief. Also, at the time the Bible was written it showed many misconceptions about animals, and many existed around the time of it's writing. So I wouldn't base your beliefs on the matter on whatever someone said 2000 years ago. The Bible is meant to be studied and examined and used as a tool for learning, not to be taken word for word.

8 or 9 months give or take. My sister-in-law was given her, but she didn't really have room for her and she gave the pup to us. We had her for about 6 months. Sadly, that same sister-in-law had a dog (chewawa or however you spell it) for 7 years, and it just died suddenly 3 days ago (got pregnant by a bigger dog and couldn't handle the stress of the babies). My sister-in-law was really upset about losing her dog, and now we'll have to tell her about this one. It'll wait though, as she's having a baby of her own tomorrow. She's doesn't need more stress.

Yeah, that's a lot of stress for one woman to take.
A few months ago, my neighbors dog died. She was a sweet dog. The sad thing is I saw the dog the a few days before she died when I cut the grass, and the owner was saying that she needed to take her to the vet because the dog was getting bald spots. She never took her to the vet, and now she feels horrible about it. I feel bad too, because she was great animal. (I'm getting tears just thinking about it:csad:).
I hope you learn what happened to Kaci. And Congrats on becoming an Uncle.

Thank you very much. I have 3 neices, but this is my first nephew, and with only having daughters myself, I'm excited to have another boy in the mix.

Yes, animals go to Heaven. So the good news is that your favorite pet will be waiting for you. The bad news is that so will every carnivorous dinosaur from the Mesozoic era.

Personally, if you want info about Heaven other than the Book of Revelation, I'd check out Jesse Duplantis' message called "Heaven: Close Encounters of the God Kind". It's very moving, and you might be surprised at some stuff. It covers the "animals" question, as well as many others. You can find his website here; hope it helps! =)
