We all know Hollywood has a desire for new content but as little desire to create anything on their own. That's why we get films about comic books, old cartoons and video games. So how long before Hollywood turns its attention towards anime and manga? Is there any anime/manga that would like a good live action movie or would prefer that Hollywood not involve itself with anime or manga?

Well they've already done anime and manga movies, and of course tried real hard to do others.

Movies they have made-The Guyver 1,2, gundam, and now speed racer.

Movies they tried-lupin the third, akira, and ghost in the shell, dragonballz

Im sure im missing some.

Since when was there a Gundam movie?

If they were to make films, I say they should do Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Trigun. I'd like to see Dragon Ball Z, but (like I said in the DB thread), us fanboys need to accept the film with an open mind (like comic book films) since it is impossible to follow the source material 100%, as well as having 6 films to have everything fit.

The guys who made the toys did a live action movie. it had a limited release and was really just dtv. It was to celebrate the anniversy for gundam a few years ago. From what I heard it was horrible.

That seems like a very merger effort, like the Captain America movie from 1991. Can you think of real Hollywood manga movie which had actual famous people, a big budget and received a wide release? I'm not counting DTVs or projects that are stuck in development Hell.

Speed racer is the only one with a real budget and so far all star cast. If it does well im sure we'll see others. I still want my dtv Guver 3 though.:csad: I miss you guyver.

This what I'm talking about, movies that full power of Hollywood behind them. I mean there was ton of crappy Marvel direct to video efforts, but it wasn't until around 2000 that Hollywood used all of its abilities to create and promote Marvel movies. What I'm asking is what manga concepts would like to get a similar treatment, if any (besides Speed Racer, of course.)

I would kill for Lupin, big 0,gundam, and trigun. Lupin is very oceans 11ish so it could be a huge hit with all star cast like that movie did.

James Cameron is supposed to be doing Battle Angel Alita with a ton of new movie tech. MAJOR money is going into that project. We`ll be seeing movies before or at least right after that one when its released.

I'd love to see another Guyver Movie. With today's technology it could be breathtaking.

Here's a post from another thread ......

Gungrave in Martin Scorsese's hands (The Departed, The Goodfellas) :wow:

Peacemaker Kurogane in Edward Zwick's hands (The Last Samurai)

Fullmetal Alchemist in Peter Jackson's hands (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) :wow:

Naruto in a combination of both Ten Shimoyama's (Shinobi: Heart Under Blade) & Stephen Chow's (Kung fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) hands :word:

Afro Samurai or Samurai Champloo in Quentin Tarantino's (Kill Bill) hands

Also a live action Monster movie is due out in 2009. :word: This **** just better be done right. :cmad:

The guy who directed the first 2 guyvers has been saying hes been wanting to do a third for awhile now. Im shocked the sci fi channel hasn't picked it up as a tv movie. Which would be awesome.

Damn, this is Sci-Fi we're talking about.
