According to The Tracking Board, Universal Pictures is currently developing a 'reboot' the beloved 1990s book series as a feature film. Scholastic executive Deborah Forte is producing the pic via her Silvertongue Films shingle, and the studio is looking for a writer to focus heavily on the sci-fi aspect of the story.

Very happy to see this in motion. I hope K.A. Applegate and her husband are involved too.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woot::woot:

THIS WAS ON MY LIST OF THINGS I WANTED REBOOTED FROM THE 90'S! THANK YOU HOLLYWOOD!

lol sorry for the capitalisations. I really am excited now. First Power Rangers, an R-Rated Baywatch, Independence Day 2 and now this!

Now I'd like my Sabrina The Teenage Witch movie please! Make it Mean Girls with magic.

I think that leading male from the new Goosebumps would make a great Tobias.

And as for tone, there'd be something wrong if they didn't go dark and serious for this.

Also, I hope they don't follow the books too much especially with the ending. The anti-climactic ending is still a gripe I have.

Just don't be lame and make Tobias stuck as an animal and we're good.

I liked the tobias thing. It gave weight to their consequences.

Anyway yay to this! I hope they don't hurt the animals during filming if they use live action ones like the TV show

PETA's going to come down hard on this if they do. I wonder that since this would be done at Universal, that they would get the same VFX crew from Jurassic World?

I don't think it's true. None of the trades like Variety, THR, Wrap and Deadline are picking it up.

I didn't get very far with these books. But, things sound like they got pretty crazy over time. I hope it happens.

Oh yeah they did. I remember reading the final book, and then I like everyone else, got ticked off by how things ended on an anti-climactic level.

Hope that doesn't happen.

This has potential to be good....or also to be lame generic YA flick.

:yay:

I feel so bad for the kid whose parents bought them that game. There was no worse feeling than playing a s***ty video game when we were young.

Aww look at youngin Shawn Ashmore. :oldrazz:

It's about time this gets revived.

Maybe it'll be one of those deals like the Xena reboot where it turns out to be baloney but then after the huge amount of support it gets people start trying to make it happen?

No idea about a cast. Maybe a blonde kaya scoldero as Rachel? Freddie highmore would be fasinating as Ax and it's probably good for him to have roles that aren't always Oscar baity

According to K.A. Applegate, it's not real and the movie's not happening. :(

Why would you ruin my excitement? The one franchise you think hollywood would be quick to reboot and bring to the big screen and it isn't even happening.

Sorry I feel the pain too. I'd love to see a movie in this vein:

Animorphs was a huge part of my childhood. Read the hell out of em. Shame it's not happening. It'd make for a decent film if done right.

If it's not happening, part of me feels like Universal is trying adamantly to get the rights to make it. They need a new, young teen/adult book series to adapt to match their Twilight successes.

Perhaps the article was more released in terms of getting a buzz going to maybe convince Scholastic to truly consider it.

I think it's ripe for massive franchise potential. Not only do you get the prized young adult demographic but you also get the older people who loved the franchise and would watch it for nostalgia reasons. That's what helped make transformers such a big hit
