This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]362091[/split]

Dear Children,

If your contributions have essentially nothing to do with the characterization of Selina Kyle and are little more than transparent dreck tailored toward your goofy fanboy desires than anything viable, keep them to yourselves. It's becoming more than tiresome to have this thread periodically cleaned up because people seem to equate discussion of a character that boasts sensuality with ongoing blather about **** and ass.

In very short order, such individuals will be removed from discussing the topic altogether for the slightest transgressions. I very strongly suggest that the current climate of discussion resemble something of worth.

Grow up.

LOL CC!!

Yep many did lol, those were some intense times for sure.

I actually enjoyed a lot of those debates. I was right in the thick of it for a while. The nice thing about those was that there was an actual reasoning for some of the arguments going on there. Joker's bleached skin was so connected to his mysterious origins, a lot were worried we'd get a Joker that Nolan felt the need to over-explain and lose any sense of mystery (obviously not the case) but you could see why some would have been worried about that.

Also, the big reason I always jumped in was honestly because nothing got my hackles up more then seeing tons of people come in saying "Bleached skin is too unrealistic. I've never been more tired of the word "realistic" then after Nolan made Batman, because people got on this whole "TEH MOVIEZ B So REALISTICZ!" all the time. When really, the movies aren't very realistic. I think it was petty clear Nolan went with the makeup look because he liked the visual look of it. If the whole "realistic" issue had been a part of it, I don't think we would have gotten such a comic accurate Two-Face.

But at least with the perma-white debates, we actually had a lot of different levels and elements of the character to debate about. However, then went on so long that they became very circular. Heck, it pretty much lasted right up until the movie came out.

Oh ya those were great debates, there were times later on where it got a little odd, and more simplistic reasoning being thrown back and forth. But during the earlier part and lots during October-Feb or so there was some great deep debates, with great points all around.

Oh solidus you might have converted me.

I will say that those arguments gave really great insight to the characters and understanding how a simple aesthetic design can influence a lot, which is why we are all so passionate about it.

I do think once we see an official picture of the 'final' costume we should then proceed to tear it apart but for the people not satisfied I would say keep an eye out just encase.

I remember that I thought that the Joker was secretly permawhite because of that Halloween picture we got of him, even though looking at it now, you can see his skin in the creases of his forehead even in that picture. I was drinking the kool-aid big time, though. I remember that Michael Caine said something about him never taking the makeup off, and I was even more convinced. I thought that he kept caking it on for years and years until he was no longer able to wash it off. :oldrazz:

Some people still believe the Joker really was perma-white and was just wearing skin-colored makeup during the parade scene. There's also a flat earth society.

The earth is an octagon.

LIAR!!!!!!!!!

but seriously I think that once we have more information we could then laay judgement.

I do believe though that Catwoman should have some sort of resemblance to her modern day counterpart.. I do think Anne in the make up looks great though. She looks more sophisticated and elegant vs how she normally does which is umm doe eyed.

The Joker was permawhite, because the movie didn't address the issue. It's what happens at the edges of TDK that bothers me. I have a recurring dream where Heath Ledger appears in TDKR, with no makeup but a huge clown's red nose. He pats a tiny Bane on the head, and then pulls Anne Hathaway's Catwoman's hair really hard, so she wets herself. Then Chris Nolan walks on with lots of golden figurines shouting, "and everyone gets OSCARS!". But the gold peels off, and they are just chocolate underneath.

:(

"It's always good as an actor to be in your body and be limber," she says. "But with the action you need to develop specific things and specific skills. They actually have given me a martial arts exercise that I have to do all the time, to teach me grace and proper stance.

This stuff is beautiful because it looks so gentle, but when you actually wind up doing the fight choreography, all of a sudden you're like oh my gosh, that's actually a block and you go, oh I'm hitting someone's throat right now. So it's been a lot of fun and it's been a new challenge, and I really hope I do a lot more of it.

It's not something that I ever imagined I would do."

I'm glad to hear confirmation that she'll be fighting in this movie, though it's hard to imagine a Catwoman that wouldn't be. I hope she gets in a fight with Batsy at some point. I always enjoyed Michelle's scuffles with him in BR.

I hope Batman wins and her smacks Catwoman's bottom. :)

I found something that sums up the costume debate.

While I find that image funny—and for the most part I would agree with the sentiment—I'm reminded of the Batsuit and the argument sort of falls flat, at least in this context.

Just saw the commercial for One Day. Her eyes look huge in that flick. Which is not bad.

Someone mentioned that the Catwoman pic we have would be like seeing Joker here as our first Joker reveal.

Good point!

Can you imagine how crazy this site would have been had that been the case? Not only this site, but any Batman or superhero forums out there. Even the not-so-fanboys would've had a heyday with that.

"That ain't Joker! That's Scarface!"

"Looks like a Brokeback cop to me!"

"Don't tell me Nolan turned Joker into a scarred up policeman!"

"I'm boycotting this film!"

"I'm burning down the theater!"

Is that the fan's fault? Or the fault of the people incharge of releasing these photos to the public? WHY would anyone working for this film want the fans and general public to frown down upon an image they've released for the film? Inwhich case I add, then release a good ****ing photo :cmad:

I'm not as angry as I may appear though :yay:

^If that was first released pic of the Joker the backlash would have been far more intense. But its not an apt comparison, only thing there that resembles the Joker is the scarred face filling in for lips. Selina Kyle promo pic is nearly perfect but needing a cowl with ears.

Yes and no. Had this been the first image of Joker we'd gotten, I'd probably have thought about it before doing any sort of flaming... "Surely Nolan isn't going to have the Joker be a cop throughout the movie. This must be some sort of disguise we're seeing. Perhaps he puts on flesh colored makeup and dresses as a cop to infiltrate police headquarters..."

As for Catwoman, I'm beginning to think, "Hmmm. This may not be the complete suit. Maybe this is the first time she goes into action. It's possible he won't reveal it until closer to the movie's release date to really stir up some buzz. Nolan, you little stinker, you!"
