Quantumania Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Maybe Jonathan Major's defense lies with him saying a Variant did it. Or maybe he thought it was acceptable as he was Method Acting and was just trying to better understand his characters Villainy.

But on a more serious note maybe his bad behavior will work to Disney's benefit as it will help to portray him as the Villain on and off screen, and I am telling you right now the best Villains are the ones that everone hates.

Just my thoughts.

Surfer

Jesus Christ, I just saw it for the first time.
This was horrible.

I didn't like this... i can't say it's "bad," but I would put it next to MCU movies like Thor The Dark World and Iron Man 2. It does kind of feel like Marvel has a problem, most of their content after Endgame hasn't been great. (Imo)

Also, I wasn't a fan of Cassie. It's not the actor's fault, just seems like almost every MCU movie now has that same young female character in it. But her screaming "dad!" all the time was getting a bit annoying after a while.

I'm fine with it if we're not getting anymore Ant-Man movies.

So this ended up making up $45 million less than the first film.

What a disappointment.

Yeah , was expecting a fair bit more.

- The full Ant Man family together.
- Large scale, well known villain that will also be the MCU’s next big bad.
- Quantumverse - more ambitious location/setting.

After these numbers and downward trend despite amping things up, I can’t see any more Ant Man movies anytime soon. But Scott and Cassie will probably make appearances or cameos in other films.

I watched it a couple of nights ago. I don't think it was awful, but it didn't wow me at all either ...... it was all just a bit average all round.

I never thought Kang should have been the next "Thanos", at least not the way he is portrayed.
For a couple of films and TV shows? Sure, but not a Thanos level of a threat for over a dozen films.
I just don't see it.He doesn't feel very threatening to me.

Galactus should have been the next big bad.

Yeah I always thought the Multiverse was a mistake for the MCU's next saga
It could work as a tv series, but as a framework for all the films? Nah

Multiverse stories in the comics have always bored me (outside of Age of Apocalypse) and it seems general audiences may be in agreement (outside of pairing up multiple Spidermen)

Now I thought Kang was great in Loki, and Majors is a talented dude (despite his bulls***t) and so after that show I got a bit more hopeful, but now its looking like it was the wrong direction to go

Just a bit of a weak movie.

I don't want to watch movies anymore that have this thing where some unexpected army shows up at the end to save the day, it's corny. This movie had that happen twice.

You're not gonna outdo Lord of the Rings or even Endgame on that front.

I did have 2 or 3 pretty good laughs.

Thor: Love and Thunder is still 10 times worse to me.

So does anyone here think Ant-Man should get another movie or should Ant-Man be retired as a franchise?

We got 3 of them. That's probably enough IMO. Not every franchise needs 3 or more

Galactus is good for maybe a phase if that was how they wanted to do him, but not a Saga. Galactus isn't a character with motivations that would threaten the universe. He's just an entity consuming planets to survive. Once you have him come to Earth and would build to that and the confrontation ends, that's kind of the end of him being the big threat. Future entries would either be he tries to eat a different planet or maybe something like the story where Surfer saves him from being poisoned or they need his help or whatever, but in those other scenarios he isn't the big threat. That's why a character like Doom or Apocalypse or someone like that would make more sense as a Saga villain.

Normally I'd say "stop it", but both sequels failed to recapture the inventiveness and the visuals of the first movie. If they can make another one that is smaller in scale (no pun intended), I say 'go for it'. But I highly doubt it since they've been heading into a very different direction.

If they gave Edgar Wright a Hank Pym movie set in the 70's, that had no serious ties to any other MCU films, I'd go see it in theaters like 20 f***ing times

On one hand I think maybe bring in someone other than Peyton Reed might could do something. Just get some fresh eyes on it. Despite the next 2 movies, I think he's really overhated and the fact that he was able to land the plane when it came to the first movie.

On the other hand...I know Ant-Man has decades of source material, but I just don't feel like there's much to say with the character anymore. And with the MCU introducing so many characters I feel like they're better off just letting the character rest. Especially when none of the Ant-Man movies were that big of a success compared to it's counterparts

I wonder who could play a young Hank Pym?

A young Michael Douglas look-alike? Uff that's a tough one.

Maybe Jeremey Allen White?
I know everyone says he's young Gene Wilder, but he's got Douglas's hair and eye coloring and a similar nose and butt chin

I just hate that we have to deal with years of this Multiverse BS. I'm f'n sick of multiverses now.

I'm quickly going that way too. I mean, on paper, it sounds great (regardless of whether it's Marvel or even DC) - seeing different iterations of your favourite character played by different actors, bringing in the ability to have multiple characters from different studios onscreen together (e.g. the 3 Spidermen), the potential to bring back dead characters and so on.

In reality .......... it's quickly getting confusing, tiresome and suffering from a distinct lack of stakes. The novelty of some of the things I've mentioned above wears off very quickly.

The buildup to Infinity War felt it had much more momentum and gravitas.

in the past I suggested
I kinda had someone like...

Philip Winchester,

or

Teddy Sears....

....type in mind, but, admittedly those are more based on looks, an I don't know enough about there acting to say they could really bring something to the role acting wise, so they would be more stunt casting (for lack of better word)
gained that nearly ten years ago, they were lesser known and young at the time I suggested (I don't remember what I saw Philip in at the time that make me think of him, but, he's not really on the radar anymore) I'll stand by Teddy, tho, as a possible option...

a new name I'll throw out there, Sam Jaeger
