NOW...I can stop with the Oscar winner and nominee talk. :hehe:

Faora, not Ursa. GOOD.

So much for news only on Sundays.

Has anyone seen her in anything?

never seen her in anything, but she looks deliciously sinister...as i'd imagine Faora should look.

edit: listening to one of her interviews, LOVE her accent and she's got a cute voice too. so far, i approve!

She was in Pandorum with Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster. From what I remember she's not a bad actress and she can do the action...don't really recommend the movie though.

Interesting. First time in a long while I have absolutely NO idea who an actress is. She looks the part at least.

I'm torn if I should count this against Snyder's flawless hit record. Maybe I should give this one a pass. :o

She has a great look and as i said elsewhere glad they didn't only look at "name" actors.

Here is the article since it asks for registration:

German actress Antje Traue cast as Superman villainess
Thesp to play Faora in Warner Bros.' 'Man of Steel'

German actress Antje Traue has been cast as Superman villainess Faora in Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' "Man of Steel."

Henry Cavill stars as the titular superhero, while other confirmed cast members include Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as General Zod, as well as Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent.

There are multiple Faoras in the Superman universe, so it remains unclear which one Traue has been tapped to play. The first Faora, Faora Hu-Ul, was introduced in Action Comics #471 as a beautiful Kryptonian woman with an intense unexplained hatred for all men. She was an expert at the Kryptonian martial art of Horo-Kanu, which utilizes pressure points on the Kryptonian body and made her a dangerous foe for Superman to fight in hand-to-hand combat. In fact, he was forced to flee from their first encounter.

That said, it's more likely that Traue will be playing the version of Faora that debuted in Action Comics #779 as a Pokolistanian aide of General Zod. That character was an orphan metahuman with the ability to disrupt molecular bonds, which allowed her to create a mutagenic virus that served as the linchpin of Zod's plan.

In pop culture, the female Kryptonian named Ursa in "Superman" and "Superman II" is believed to be based on Faora, who appeared on the eighth season of "Smallville" as the wife of General Zod.

Zack Snyder is directing "Man of Steel" from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, based on a story by Nolan and Goyer. Christopher Nolan is producing alongside Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder, while Legendary topper Thomas Tull is exec producing with Lloyd Phillips.

Production is scheduled to start this summer in Chicago, with a release planned for December 2012.

Traue was last seen playing the female lead alongside Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in Overture Films' "Pandorum." Thesp recently wrapped Renny Harlin's war drama "5 Days of August," which stars Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia and Heather Graham.

Traue is repped stateside by Greene & Associates Talent Agency, and by Troika and Spielkind overseas.

i'm giving it a pass, simply because he can't get big name actors and actresses for EVERY speaking role. i'm not expecting him to cast Jimmy as a big name.

edit: so....how the hell do you pronounce her name? hehe, i'm thinking "AHN-che_Chrow"??

edit again: here's a video with 2 pronounciations...

Yeah, why should Faora be a name actress since there didn't seem much of a choice from the "name" actors.

Synder generally likes to cast relatively unknown actors and actresses in his movies.

It sounds like this is turning into a modern version of Superman II, I was hoping that Snyder was going to go with a more interesting choice of villains.

*sigh*

You can't judge it like that yet.

This is not an official statement from WB....let's wait for the press release.

It seems she has been cast but everything else (it being Faora and all may be the article writer's conjecture.)

See deadline.com for their less fantastic take on the story http://www.deadline.com/2011/04/warner-bros-near-man-of-steel-villainess/

If it is Faora, I'll take latinoreview off my **** list, but it still hasn't been confirmed, hopefully, we'll get official news shortly.

Have no idea who she is, but after a google images search at least I know she can look like a hot bada**. I think she will do well. I am just happy to hear news.

Why would they on your list to begin with?

just wondering...why are they on your skit list?

Love her look. Will post later when i've figured out the rest of my opinion.

woooow she looks badass. she looks fantastic for a female villain. she has a normal body type. she doesnt look like a hollywood skinny pornstar.

i also like that she has a strong accent. good casting IMO.
