Anubis' "How would you do it?" Thread.

Daredevil/Murdock actually did relocate to California once some years ago with Black Widow, back when she was considered his "partner" (this was likely the 70's or 80's). I agree, many heroes don't seem to fit outside of NYC. Many people have said that it is like a "character itself", and I tend to agree, seeing those heroes next to familiar landmarks is rather cool.

But I agree, some groups as mentioned could branch out. There are other famous cities and landmarks that could bare the same sort of feeling of NYC to others. I mean, everyone who reads Marvel comics doesn't live in NYC, after all. Heck, I live in an outer borough and I barely like to visit. ;)

I'm in Chicago, and I know I'd love to see the Sears Tower or the John Handcock building, or even somebody get knocked through a Harolds Chicken Shack.

Interestingly, I hear that statistically, Chicago has more crime than NYC right now, although it could be bunk. Propoganda and all. We'll still a more violent nation than Canada. :p

There are alot of characters that simply can't leave NY because the city is so tied to them. Like Spider-Man. Can't see him going anywhere else. But I don't know, I think after getting outted, and going to jail, Daredevil might be in store for a change of scenery. But I can't see him staying in one place for long. And it would be an interesting story. Don't know if Bru will take it that route though.

But the New Warriors can go, (They already have really what with that god awful mini they had recently.) Whats left of the Slingers might do well to move on. The Thunderbolts too. If anything good comes out of this whole Civil war thing, I hope it's that the heros make some effort to move out of New York.

Spidey is NY, but yeah Slingers,NW, and Thunderbolts should try some other major cities.

Propoganda? People gettin killed all over the place here man. I found three dead bodies stuffed in my garbage can yesterday. I know for a fact that I only put one in there.

Um...

To try to get back on track, how about some words on Nova. I've gotten into some story ideas for other Avengers: Next Generation characters, may as well go into some stuff on him. Basically, I see him as attempting to be Marvel's answer to some of DC's "legacy space-heroes"; heck, his origin story is VERY much like Hal Jordon's and the Corps, only you change some names and powers. Naturally, Nova on the team would seem on the outside as that "big man on campus", the one who's had a long solo career as well as a team stint, had his high's and lows, and is powerful enough that some of the others really see him going places, being one of "the greats". Ryder himself, though, has his doubts, especially as he gets older and he finds his life outside of being a superhero being lacking (such as angst over his ex, which is not helped by Kymera, another ex, being there). Plus, unlike the Green Lanterns, all those from Nova's space legacy are basically dead; their legacy is in him, their last generation. I might stress that the "Nova Force", the energy where he taps his power, actually has the collective souls of all of the Xandian's there who can guide him in periods of personal doubt and despair. Much like a Green Lantern, Nova needs to realize that it's not the alien powers that make him a hero, it's his own pure heart that his powers simply amplify.

And this may be put to the test when Nova gets tricked by a company that seemingly wants to help the team with finances, but instead takes "scans" of his alien armor and seeks to duplicate it; basically trying to copy the alien powers for military/mercenary use (whoever pays the highest price for it).

UMC2: Supernaturals

Darkdevil: Kaine Parker has made a deal with Zarathos, the demon of vengance, so that he could have the strength to save his neice, Mayday, from the undead terror that Norman Osborn had turned himself into. Now, finding the demon with himself hard to control, he seeks out the one person he knows of that controlled it: Danny Ketch.

The Excorcist: Danny Ketch now works for the Catholic church as a professional excorcist. along with excorcisms, Danny has either learned or invented a few extra ways of dealing with demons. he doesn't follow the church, but they don't care so long as he keeps the Demons in hell.

Scorcerer Supreme: for three years the world has known that both Dr. Strange and Wong were dead, and those in the superhero community have wondered who stepped up to take his place. The answer is Billy Kaplan. While Billy had been under the tutelage of Dr. Strange for three years, he still feels unprepared, but has accepted the good doctors inheirtance and is ready to help the world. he first does this by tracking down a strange and unatural presence, headed right for another strange and earthly presence.

Werewolf by Night: John Jameson thought he was rid of his curse, but he was wrong. it still lives with in him, and when he was bitten by a vampire, the vampire's disease was negated, but the lycanthrope returned. Now John Jameson is hunting Vampires, and he's mistaken Kaine Parker for a Vampire.

MTU: Mercenaries, Mercenaries, Mercenaries

This story is a team up of Marvel's most expert Mercs; Taskmaster, Mystique, Deadpool, and Bullseye (Is Elektra alive?). The central plot is a mutant is discovered that has enhanced strength, agility, and the natural ability to see weak spots, and the natural over whelming instinct to aim for the weakest spots in combat. he is a natural born killing machine, and he's only 14. Now he's been sought by AIM, Hydra, and whoever else would like to get their hands on the world first genetically designed mercenary. cloning would make hiring mercs a thing of the past.

That is why Marvel's greatest Mercs have decided to team up and get the boy to a place where he can't be used for evil, but where? and will these mercs just up an kill him before they get him to safety?

I imagine Taskmaster as the leader of the group, and he gets to do the whole "Come with me if you want to live" line.

Mystique would be the primary reason he isn't just killed, as she believes killing him for his mutant power would be wrong (And difficult).

Deadpool is our comedy relief of course, but also another reason the kid isn't dead (He has relations with good guys that he doesn't want to sever).

Bullseye would be the guy we're not quite sure won't just haul off and kill the kid, or sell all four of the others out and turn the kid over.

I like it!

Thanks, but I would definitely need help, I have read a few Deadpool things, and a Mystique TPB, but I don't really know the Mercenaries. I just thought this would be a good thing where they band together not for some stupid "common good" but to save their own paychecks.

any ideas on how things might turn out?

I'd say you are spot on with how each Merc would react, especailly Bullseye.

But I'd say there reason for protecting the kid is that it's one of groups kid and it's like a Marvel'Raising Arizona'

He's Bullseye's kid, but no one knows it but him. not even the kid. thats an extra reason Bullseye is planning on Killing him (Doesn't want to be outdone by his son).

Another question is where would they take him? Deadpool might suggest he be sent to Cable at the Muir Island facility. I would think he should go to Shang Chi to learn to control his gift. what do you think? I think Maybe Mystique would take a liking to him (It wouldn't be the first time she adopted a kid).

I'd say one of Taskmaster's secret compounds (He's good for that.) it can be where ever you want it to be, and Mysitque's interest in the kid is more likely so that she can use him for her mutant cause so I see her putting 'mutant supremcy' ideas in his head trying to turn him with motherly affection.

Deadpool out of the four is the most non-threating to the kid, he shouldn't have any real ulterior motives accept money.

Tasky should as the story unfolds see this kid as his real chance at fartherhood (albeit a warped evil paternal nature) Tasky sees the kid as a piece of 'art' and he wants to mold this child as a testament to his genuis as a teacher of the mercenary arts, it'll be his calling card (Look what I made! sortof thing)

I was sort of thinking that Tasky would be offended by the kid. I mean the man has to have worked hard all his life to become what he is. and now the kid can't beat any of the four of them, but he is in the league... he's the saints, or the Cubs. He's not gonna win, but he's on the same level.

Mystique, Deadpool, and Tasky I saw as all kind of liking the kid as the story moves on. He doesn't want to hurt people (Which they gently laugh at). which is why they ultimately turn him over to someone else who can help him control it.
