Anubis' "How would you do it?" Thread.

^ I see that. I just pegged Tasky as liking a good challenge.

I had this vision of the kid (I call him Fatality) running from this mob of Hydra and AIM and (Fill in the blank for me) goons all trying to get their hands on him. (I'm talking hundreds becaue that is what it would take).

all of a sudden he comes to a dead end, and a rope drops out of no where. he looks up to see Tasky with his hand out. "Come with me if you want to live." taking any help he can the kid grabs the hand and they are suddenly whooshing upwards (The rope is on a recoil at the top). the pop through a sky light and the kid tumbles to a stop as he looks back to see Deadpool and Mystique firing down into the crowd that had followed them. Taskmaster walks up and tosses somethign into the broken skylight and they all start walking away when the GRENADE goes off.

Two more thoughts:

The five of them are sitting around a campfire after the rescue, and explaining who they are and what they can do. Fatality asks, "So you guys are super-heroes" they all pause for a moment, looking at each other, and then bust out in laughter.

They are deep in the middle of that final battle AIM and Hydra troops pouring in from all places, the five of them fighting like demons, and all of a sudden, Elektra drops from the roof. there is a pause while they wonder who she's fighting with, she smiles darkly, and then turns on the AIM/Hydra slaughter fest and they all continue the fight.

I'm now seeing Fatality, in like the last page or so of the arch, working out, thinking about the three people who protected him. "Not angels... but not demons. I'm an orphan now, but with a father to look up to, a mother to please, and a brother to best. Did I lose something in all of this? or did I perhaps gain something."

Father is Tasky (This has nothing to do with a relationship with Mystique, just a feeling that he has someone to look up to)

which leaves Deadpool as the brother that he's supposed to show up.

Ah..ok I really like the dysfunctional family aspect.

well they don't give a rats rear about each other, to him they are family though, because these are all people who do what he does. he sort of sees this gift as marking him as one of them.

I'm in and out. Still pissed the Bears got put out so easy.

at least you're getting to watch some of it.

The Game

Kinda like a spin off from teh X-Mas special, but revolving around the Super-Bowl.

You have everyone hunkered down in the Tower watchin' the game. all the New and regular Avengers. MJ is in there as well, shouting louder than Wolverine about certain plays. of course, she is rooting for the team Wolverine isn't. Peter asks about what just happened (A little gag harkening back to his geek days).

Gravity is having fun trying to get a beer (He's like 19 and therefore he's not supposed to, so everyone is teasing him about it). there's chips, what not, Ben has little Franklin on his shoulders so every time Wolverine tries to cuss, a bunch of people smack him (Reed, MJ, Ben) because Franklin is in the room.

In the end they are all standing around, MJ actually does a chest thump with Tony Stark who afterward pauses to realized what he's just done. They pull out the pool charts and start groaning as MJ won half of them, but the final score, the big pot goes to Aunt May, who didn't even watch the game, just came in with snacks from time to time.

 Nice. Sounds like one hell of a one shot.

What do you mean? You can't get the game?

^ Nice.

No poker after the game or before? Thing gotta have poker on SBowl Sunday.

I'm at work, so I'm not watching it.

Before the game maybe.

I was thinking about a mini series were a bunch of villians attempt to pull off an Oceans Eleven type Heist. Knocking over a Casino in Vagas or maybe stealing some diamonds on loan from Wakanda or something. I haven't got the details worked out yet, but I was thinking of putting the team together first and see where it takes me. I got about three in mind so far, any suggestions would be much obliged.

Rhino
Shocker
and the ring leader would be a new Hobgoblin whose identity wont be revealed until the end.

Some maybes would be Vulture, a new Dr. Fear, Whirlwind, Grizzly, The Terrible Tinkerer, or Mysterio. Know any fem villians that would fit into the proffesional theif catagory?

Ben Riley's Return, prompting Spidey to reexamine his hero status, copied form Spider Baords.

--------------

Pete finds himself repeatedly confronted by a masked figure while out as Spidey. The character appears to know allot about Peter's history and current life, and seems angry about choices Peter has made. The character appears to have strength and agility comparable to Pete's, but no web shooters (just to maintain the mystery abit ). He confronts Peter about "losing his way" and "giving up what made him Spider-Man". While their confrontations are never physical they often involve Pete chasing Ben (for the character is he, and I don't wanna say "character" any more , assume until I say we still don’t know who it is!). During one such chase Ben leads Peter back towards Queen's where Aunt May's house was. He asks Pete if he knows what happens to the crime rate in the area when Pete left, and how often Pete patrols this far out now he's in the "Big Leagues". It would then be shown that Ben has been looking after the area ever since Pete left. Ben and Pete would then team up to fight a fire/emergency etc (designed to show Ben isn't a bad guy). During the event Ben would escape.

Ben returns to his apartment where a blond girl asks "How it went". Ben says it went well, and "he'll know soon".

Pete begins to become more and more withdrawn from the Avengers, patrolling the city for hours on end at "street level", shaken by what Ben has demonstrated.

Pete meets Ben again, still wary but more willing to listen. Ben asks Peter why he thinks he was invited to the Avengers. Pete says it's was "chance". Ben counters it was chance, but "they" took the opportunity. Ben tells Pete that Pete's always seen himself as an outsider, a no-body. But in truth Spider-Man's the figure head of most of hero's. Everyone born/obtained powers looks up to him, follows his lead. While not everyone can identify with Iron Man/Cap America/Prof X, Spider-Man's "schmuck with power" image is an inspiration to ALOT of heroes. By bringing him to the Avengers, Cap/Tony/Illuminatti started to influence a whole generation of heroes. (This could tie into them trying to get people onto their side). Ben also says that Pete has been turned into an "Agent of Shield", indicating his new costume which is similar to Spider-Women's.

Just as Pete seems to be listening, the Avengers arrive to "help" Pete with his enemy. Fight ensues, and Ben again escapes, due to him only fighting to flee not won.

MJ is in Avenger's tower, and find's "Peter" in a darkish room. He says he needs her help, stepping out the shadows with his mask off, revealing him to be Ben.

Ben says he needs to find "the children and take them to their mother". Cut to Gwen, sitting in Ben's flat, holding a picture of 2 children, a boy and girl.

Quick recap ---------------------------

- The Ben who died was another clone; Norman was fecking with Pete once more.

- Ben escaped captivity months later, and found the Heroes Returned, Pete as Spidey and seemingly living his dream life. Ben left for the road again, determined to search out the only other person who could understand - Gwen's Clone. They eventually met, and have been together ever since.

- When Ben realised that May was still alive, and knew Peter was Spidey, he went to her. Desperate to see his Aunt. May was unable to push her "nephew" away and has been seeing him on and off ever since. This explains how Ben knows so much that's been going on in Pete's life.
And how he learned about "Gwen's" children and got her the picture.

--------

Pete's running close to breaking point, still patrolling the city for all his waking hours. He loses his job at the school, makes no money from the Bugle and even seems to be making errors in his "rescues". During a rescue from a collapsing building, Pete's mistake almost costs someone their life, but Ben saves them at the last moment.

Pete's understandably shaken by his mistake, and sits on a roof talking it over with Ben. Ben asks Pete why he's doing this. Pete starts spouting how he's "better than before" with more powers and Spider-Totems behind him etc. Ben points out that Pete used to say "Great Power, Great Responsibility".
Ben also asks Pete if he really thinks it matters where his powers came from, Science or Magic, and if it makes him any less/more a hero. Ben then hands Pete and envelope saying "This is what made you a hero". He then WEBSLINGS off (first time Peter sees it could be Ben). Pete opens the envelope to find pictures of Uncle Ben, May, Gwen, MJ and his parents.

Ben sits with MJ as she explains she's been through everything Pete wrote/brought back for Paris, and she has enough infomation to at least point Gwen and Ben in the right direction (I'm sorry I can't remember "Sins Remembered"...MJ may know exactly where to send them )

MJ asks Ben why he's waited until know to return. Ben recounts the conversation he and Pete had before their fight with Guant WAYYYYYY back in Revelations. He and Pete agreed that with the heroes "dead", the world could need 2 Spiders, and idea they previously thought uneeded. When Ben excaped Osbourne he found the Hero's returned, Spidey in action and mutants EVERYWHRE. Pete had his shot at a "normal" life, Ben now wanted his, and Osbourn cost him everything he had in New York (remember Ben was seen by everyone by the Bugle to die). Spider-Man's recent "death" prompted his return to the city, and his meeting with May. (See above)

MJ confronts May about her keeping her meetings with Ben a secret. May replies she did what was best for her "nephew's". And that MJ should understand people keeping secrets from people.

Pete sits on the side of a building in the city, listening to a police scanner. There are reports of a hostage situation and a police unit underfire. His Avengers com link activates saying Hydra/Hand someone is attacking a SHEILD facility, and a call for help. Pete leaps of the building and swings off.

Osbourn's sitting in his new high security cell in the prison. Ben appears at the glass. Norman starts talking to pete, before Ben states he's "the clone".
Norman's genuinally phazed. But dimissively asks what Ben wants. Ben says that Norman took everything from him. Twice. Norman counters the it was "never his". Ben just smiles and says he's now taking something from Norman, and show's him a picture of Gabe and Sarah. Norman asks if Ben came here just to threaten him.

"No. I came to show you how easily I can get to you.... Leave us be."

And then he's gone.

MJ finds Pete sitting in their room. The pictures Ben left him are framed on the wall. Pete's reading the paper, about the police officers killed in last night's firefight. Cut: Spidey laying a flower at the officers grave

-------------

The whole idea is to show Spidey's difficult transition into Avenger-hood with "greater" responsibilties, and while not to ret-con the mystic stuff, try and show it's not "character defining". It's only my first attempt at a story, be nice :)

Not bad. Good to see someone with the balls to delve into the Clone saga agian. Not only that but to actually bring Ben back, as well as the lost Gwen Clone. I think it's okay, but if it ever got to print the fanboys would crucify you. But anyway, thanks for sharing. Hope to see some more of your ideas.

Chuck Austen that you?

This is just a story I thought up last night. No bearing on continuity within the Marvel Universe. Think of it as an alternate universe tale.

Heros 4 Hire Inc: The Client

About 7 years ago, Super heros Luke Cage: Power Man and Daniel Rand: Iron Fist started up a company called Heros 4 Hire. This simple small time bodyguard/detective service would turn into a multi million dollar corporation. They’ve protected everything from world leaders to multi Platinum musicians. From 2 heros and a secretary to over sixty employees, 20 hero operatives, and three offices world wide, with Cage and Rand as President and CEO respectively. Now, they are not all about the money. They still perform acts of heroism free of charge, like when a group of operatives lead by Cage took on an Ultron robot terrorizing downtown Chicago. Or last year when operatives Wonder Man, Justice, and former super villain The Sandman, helped save thousands in Hurricane Katrina Ravaged New Orleans when they were able to stop the levees from breaking. All three received the key to the city and presidential commendations for this act. Heros 4 Hire just received a contract with a very wealthy and recognized client. She is one of the worlds wealthiest and most influential entertainers, as well as a world wide media giant. She will be announcing her intentions to run for President of the United States, and by all accounts, she may very well win. She has become a target by certain individuals who shall remain nameless, and has therefore taken it upon herself to hire H4H inc to protect her for during her official announcement later this month at her base of operations Chicago, IL. Company founders Luke Cage and Daniel Rand will personally be handling her security, along with some of their best operatives including the mutant shape shifter known as Morph, a former S.H.I.E.L.D. op known as the Spider-Woman, and A mutant known as the "Master of communication", Cypher.

Meanwhile, the group of individuals who don’t want to see her take office have put together an assassination squad to take her out before she can announce her candidacy. The squad is headed by international criminal, the Rose. There is a rumor that this Rose is the outcast son of the mythical underworld figure known as the Kingpin of Crime. But this has not been confirmed, nor has the existance of this "Kingpin". The Rose is wanted the world over for many crimes ranging form robbery, assassination, terrorism, and also for possible involvement in an attempted coup attempt upon the Powerful African nation of Wakanda. ( whose ruler is, incidently, an avid supporter of the Clients candidacy.) The Rose has assemble a team of some of the deadliest individuals in the world to perform this hit. They are getting a quarter of a billion dollars for this assassination, so he is only using professionals.

Estiban Sosa a.k.a. The Black Tarantula - World Class assassin and Mercenary. Suspected in over 45 assassinations world wide and has an international warrant out for his arrest by U.N. sanctioned peace keeping organization, S.H.E.I.L.D. He’s a master of over 4 different Martial arts, as well as having had his physical abilities augmented. Enhanced speed, durability, and reflexes.

Aleksei Sytsevich a.k.a. The Rhino - Former KGB agent, later Russian Mob enforcer Aleksei Sytseyvich. He is wanted in his native country of Russia for multiple murders. Before being sent to the U.S. by his bosses in the Russian Mob, he was able to steal a top secret exoskeleton from a conveniently unguarded bunker in Siberia. The exoskeleton codename "Rhino" was smuggled into the states, where he had it applied to him by underworld scientists. He became the Russian Mobs secret Weapon, but was unable to remove the suit ever again. He served the Mob for a number of years. Facing off against New York’s Spider-Man. The mob eventually was destroyed due to infighting and a big push from the vigilante known as the Punisher . Without the Russian Mob, he simply hired himself out as muscle, eventually coming into the employ of the Rose.

Norbert Ebersol a.k.a. The Fixer - A certified electronic genius at the age of just 13, Ebersol began his life of crime by hacking into the pentagon at sixteen. And later hacking over 75 banks and making off with over 60 million dollars before being brought in by S.H.E.I.L.D. His skill in "Fixing" tech is legendary. He is brought in to deal with any security and tech they may need to hack or use during this operation.

Dr. Helena Stavros a.k.a. Port - One time genetic scientist working for the terrorist organization known as Hydra, she headed the super human genetic augmentation program. She experimented on herself, giving her teleportation abilities. She can port up to one hundred yards. After the Hydra Cell she was a member of was taken out by Captain America and the Falcon, she was forced to go out on her own and steal, sometimes murder for funding of her experiments. For a cut of a quarter of a billion dollars, she will be they’re way in.

Desmond Charme a.k.a. Mirage - A former Holography technician, Desmond Charme started out as a very low level wanna be super villain. When he realized he was getting nowhere in the costume game, (often times refured to as a wannabe Mysterio...as if being Mysterio wasn’t bad enough.) He instead went into a very niche market of criminal specialty know as "Distraction". It’s his job to cause a big enough diversion to enable the rest of the group to get in and take out the Client. He is not a killer, and his fear of these hardened criminals shows, but for a cut of a quarter billion dollars, he’ll do anything.

Well, thats the basic premiss and details on who is involved. I may add more later.

How I would do the Marvel Mangaverse:

Spider-Man:

The Parker family are decended from a clan of ninjas known as the spider clan, who charged themselves with protecting their villaiges from corrupt samurai and warlords for centuries. The family name was changed to Parker when they came to America. Little remains of the family's status as defenders of the people, but it is still tradition to learn the sklills passed down through the family line. When his parents were killed in a gang shoot out (they were caought in the crossfire), Peter Parker was sent to live with his Uncle Ben, his Aunt May, and his cousin Eddie. Growing up together, Peter and Eddie became like brothers. However, Eddie went through a rebelious streak as he grew older, and one day ran away from home and didn't return.

One day, years later, Peter came home from school to find his Uncle lying dead on the floor. Standing over him was a tall, muscular man with charcoal black skin, no nose or ears, long sharp teeth and fingernails, and white spider designs all over his body. It was Eddie. But now, he called himself Venom. After running awya, he had joined a yakuza gang, eventually becoming one of their top hitmen. As a sign of loyalty, he rpeformed several acts of self mutilation. His final act of loyalty was to sever all ties with his past life. He did this by murdering his own father.

Using the weapons Uncle Ben had in his antique colection, Peter fought Venom. However, he was beaten very badly, and Venom let him live, telling him that he should keep practicing. peter swore to avenge Uncle Ben and bring down Venom and the gangs he worked for. And so, using both ancient weapons and high tech devices, Peter became Spider-Man, the vigilante defender of New York. Weapons wise, we uses spider shaped shuriken, a colapsable bo staff, a grappling gun of his own design, smoke pelets, nightvision lenses in his mask, kevlar armoring in his shirt, gloves and boots that enable him to scale buildings with relative ease, and nets and ropes which he suses to ties people up with. He has begun having dreams in which he speask with the spirit of his uncle. Weather or not these are actual supernatural ocourances or signs of psychosis is unknown.

With Spider-Man's stories, I'd keep them in tune with dark crime dramas. Lots of violence and guns and drugs and betrayal and all that stuff. There would be humor, mostly coming from Spider-Man's rather sharp wit. But, alot of the humor would be a sort of dark comedy, fitting a much more down to earth and dark Spider-Man world. There would be occasional mystical stuff, but that would be rather rare, and I'd still put a real world spin on it in terms of how the characters react and the like.

The Enforcers: Three brothers who act as mercenaries for hire. The oldest is Max, the scientific mind behind the weapons he and his brothers use. He often wears a suit that has taser circutry woven into it, and goes by the working name of electro. The middle child, Alex, is the team's brawn. He wears a bulky suit of armore that greatly increases his strength and durability. He gos by The Rhino. The final memeber of the group is Willard, the youngest brother and leader of the group. A car accident bamaged most his skull beyond repair, and so a good chunk of it was replaced with highly shock absorbant metal. He goes by Hammerhead in the buisness. They've fought Spider-Man on several occasions, with varrying results in terms of victory.

The Vulture: Adrian Toombs, a master theif. He's gained the name of The Vulture from his early career, where he'd loot the homes of the recently deceaced. Toombs takes a sadistic pleasure in needlessly killing the people he's stealing from. He's very agile, and will sometimes wear a suit with retractible glyding wings when commiting crimes.

The Scorpion: Mac Gargain, the ultimate nerd. He's also an underworld information broker. Anyone can get almost any info from him for the right price. Or, if they threaten him enough. He's a regular cource of information for Spider-Man.

The Kingpin: A yakuza gang lord, The Kingpin is Venom's employer. He's a regular enemy of Spider-Man and the borderlin psychotic vigilante known as Daredevil.

The Sandman: A serial killer who thinks he is Morpheus, the god of dreams. He uses powerful sedadives to poison his victims, making them "subjects of his kingdom for all eternity". He also uses powerful halucinagens to deal with threats to his person.

Kraven: A russian big game hunter and a primal (one who worships savage animals and uses rutuals to take their spirits into themselves), Kravewn came to America to take up the contract on Spider-Man's head, feeling that he needed to gain a new hunting challange, and so became an assasin. His use of ancient rituals and preformance enhancing herbs has made him an almost superhuman fighter.

The Green Goblin: Norman Osborn, a billionare scientist. After his wife died of cancer, he became obsessed with the ocult, trying to find a way to bring her back. Eventually, he fused himself with the essence of a demon, and began stealing stealing suposedly mystical artifacts with which he might be able to use to bring his wife back. However, over time, his demonic side began to take hold, making hiom more cruel and sadistic as time passed.

The Black Cat: A theif and a mercenary, Felicia Hardy was given cyborg implants after nearly being killed on the job. She's become a sometimes ally of Spider-Man.

The Prowler: Peter's best friend, Hobie Brown was as much a nerd as Pete, and helped design many of the weapons that Pete uses as Spider-Man. After finding out that Pete is Spider-Man, Hobie insisted that he become Pete's side kick. Hesitantly, Pete agreed, and Hobie has become his partner and confidant. However, after a few nights of the head busting, he's opted to spend more time making gadgets for Spidey to use than actually fighting crime, although he does so on occasion.

Daredevil: After his wife, Elektra, was kileld by the yakuza, Matt Murdock swore to get revenge. And so, he begam the borderline psychotic vigliante known as Daredevil. After meeting a few times, he's become a stort of mentor to Spider-Man, although enither of them particularly likes the other very much. In battle, he will often use two small cythes conected by a chain.

The Owl: An up and coming gangster looking to take The Kingpin's territory, Leland Owlsly has become as big an enemy to Spider-Man adn daredevil as the Kingpin. He's called the Owl since he seems to sleep all day and only comes out at night, although he has made a few daytime apearances. He's an excelent fighter, incrdibly agile, and uses gloves with claws on them in combat.
