An interesting thought had occur to me, it's a widely known fact that studios don't get the entirety of a movie's box-office, how much it gets is not as widely known... Back when movies first came out, movie studios were allow to own movie theatres thus started the practice of showing an A Movies and a B Movie, thus where the term B Movie comes from originally. Then a law came out saying that movie studios couldn't own the theaters, the end of the original B film... But let say movie studios were able to own movie theatres again, I wonder how much they would be making?

Keep in mind though, that wouldn't be practical as the only place that would get real exposure to movies are big cities. 6 studios aren't going to build their own theaters in a small town. It would probably backfire and only serve to fuel the growing DTV market as it would make theater movies less accessible to the public.
