I thought that The Wolverine was pretty decent for the first 2/3rd's of the film, then that last act comes with all the cartoon silliness. Logan actually looks pretty great, so I'd hate to a see another jarring tonal shift with this one.

Maybe if Donald Fierce becomes a transformer. But seriously, I hope they learned something from The Wolverine and don't repeat their mistakes again.

I'd like to think Mangold's words about a third act in these comic book films indicate that he's learned from not just The Wolverine, but a lot of these films where the third act devolves into a CGI slugfest.

Did some BTS drama happen for the Wolverine? I heard about it, but couldnt find any articles. I love The Wolverine, and I dont have any problems with its third act. But I heard Mangold and the studio had some disagreements over the third act, is that true?

I don't know, given how the full ninja fight played out, I'm not so sure how much of the last act was Mangold going for a comic book fight.

I liked the Silver Samurai. May have been CGI, but so what? Not every single thing has to look real. I didn't think it looked completely fake. Telling a good story is more important.

Just like seeing the strings on Peter Pan in a play is not important.

The only thing that kind of ruined the movie for me was when they went against the comic, and cut off Wolverine's claws. Despite that I thought it was one of Marvel's best. Emotional, beautiful, great action, great directing, clever humor, but overall, the story was well told.

I leaning towards not, but don't rule out Fox. Actually one of my criticisms about what we've seen of the movie so far is that the Reavers are quite mundane and not as comicbooky as I would have liked. So it could be we have a more low key third act that doesn't go off the rails.

The Wolverine is an exceptional film, third act and all.

The extended cut is the REAL film in my eyes. (Having to cut the city wide ninja battle still angers me) The only thing I'd change in the third act is to have Logan keep the adamantium claws and have him beat the Silver Samurai himself. That would have been more epic and more satisfying. Forget the "put him in real peril" crap at that stage.

Yup. Always a chance.

Wouldn't it be painfully ironic if the film-derailing event was Wolverine suddenly putting on a silly costume after 2 hours of a gritty western?

The Reavers seem to all have mechanical enhancements (we see Laura cut off a metal arm in the trailer), they just won't be as absurd looking as having tank legs. That's something that wouldn't fly in any comic book film from any studio probably.

I'd like to think the R Rating is an indication that Fox is giving Mangold and Jackman full creative control and letting them stear the ship.

Only thing that gives me pause is I noticed on Wiki that the budget for this is 127 million. That's a lot of money for a gritty western, so there's bound to be some CGI tomfoolery somewhere....

I'm still geeking out over this trailer. Logan breathing new life in the superhero genre with Hugh's swansong.

My reliable source from chud said that the third act is strong. I think Mangold stuck the landing with this one.

so what island will the end of this movie be set on? lol

Cutting Wolverine's claws off and getting rid of his adamantium nearly messed up the movie, but the film at least ended with a mid-credits scene teasing that he would get the adamantium claws back.

It's part of the character. You can't change who the character is. But as for the Silver Samurai...who doesn't love seeing Wolverine fight the Silver Samurai?

Only thing I would have changed about the entire film was the whole taking Logan's adamantium away thing. Not let it happen or let Logan get it back before the movie ends.

It's nearly as bad as X-Men: The Last Stand was with killing off Professor X, Cyclops and Jean Grey off...sigh.

What's the point in making that happen if fans are just going to hate it?

When Chris Nolan decides to give Batman an ending, and have Bruce Wayne retire and have a happy ending unlike the comics...I accepted it as a film trilogy of its own thing, and separate and the series was good. It was exceptional.

Maybe it won't happen but I had always been accepting a final X-Men movie with a satisfying ending with the original team and fighting an evil. As of the moment, I don't feel satisfied. I wanted to see Wolverine with Scott, Storm, and Jean altogether along with Rogue, Iceman and Colossus.

Nice thing about Cap: Civil War was that it was Cap's movie but with several of the Avengers in it.

If say Scott, Storm or Jean appear in Logan, that would be awesome. I like Professor X, but I wasn't really expecting that. I was hoping to see a continuation from DOFP. If it were Logan's movie, but feature the other X-Men in it, and feeling almost like and X-Men movie, I'd be really happy about that.
