Does anyone here "in the know" have any news on the progress by Fox and WB on an official release of the Batman show from the '60s. I think that it would be awesome to have one for the 50th anniversary of the show, and that is still 5 years away, so there's a lot of time. I mean, I have copies that I have purchased online, but it would be nice to have an official, better quality version. I know there are a lot of hurdles, but...

No progress whatsoever. We're all still patiently waiting. In the meantime Batman: The Movie is still the only way to enjoy the best of the West in good quality.

I have the movie on blu-ray. It's terrific. Lots of great special features on it. Plus the commentary on the movie with West and Ward is a gem.

I have yet to pick up the blueray but I'm interested though, the dvd is great and I love the interviews with West and Ward. Hows the transfer, worthwhile?

It's beautiful. All those campy comic book colors, the BIFFs and BAMs etc look terrific.

Ahh thanks for the info Joker, I'll definitely consider picking it up one of these days. Like Cain said the movie is all we really have as far as official items go to quench our thirst for the 60s show, which was one of the main factors in making me a Batman fan as a kid.

Yeah, me too. That, BTAS and Burton started me on the road to Batman fandom.

A few years ago, I read an article detailing why the show has so many problems getting to DVD. In addition to WB/Fox having to work something out, the article's author said they have to work something out with the estates of characters/actors who appeared on the show, pretty much the batclimb cameos.

Adam West said that he was in the process of doing a commentary on every episode just in case.

Yeah, I have the Blu-ray, and it's great! I know it's wishful thinking, but I just want the show on (official) DVD. Too bad that back then they didn't have home release deals that everyone would sign (like syndication).

Well when the day comes that it's released, whenever that may be I will be one excited bat-fan. They must be aware they will make quite a bit of money by releasing it, it's such a classic show.

I think Adam has done a commentary for each one. Or at least an episode introduction for each one. I remember seeing his one for The Bookworm's episode on YouTube.

Nothing has changed...

WarnerHomeVideo: The BATMAN TV issue is between DC Comics and Fox. It doesn't involve Warner home video.

But the Adam West DVD is alot of fun...

^^^^ What the HELL is that?

It's called Adam West naked?

LOL!!!

Well, there is going to be a Comic Con panel for Batman 66, so how awasome would it be if they announced something at that?
