I've just started buying comic books (again) starting a few weeks. One of the reasons I stopped buying them--was I could NEVER find the issues in the right order! and its still a problem now. Added to that, with all the crossovers. . . it really hinders the experience. Especially when it comes to X-men comic books.

Anyone else have that problem when shopping for comics/grpahic novels find the books in order?

And any suggestions for what I look for when it comes to the X-men? I just finished reading the X-23 six book issue by Craig Kyle/Christopher Yost.

It just depends on what you're into. Some series are harder to collect than others. Shared universes with a bunch of tie ins in other books can cause problems. But it's pretty easy to find every issue of Scott Pilgrim or Contract with God.

I know what you mean. I have all the Y THE LAST MAN/Hellboy graphic novels. Its the crossovers that are the problem. So many characters in the X-men world!

Usually, at least when Marvel does it, when they have a massive cross-over, there will be a list to tell you what books to buy in the months they come out... may not necessarily be in chronological order, but I hope that helps...

Are you buying back issues in issues or trades? If you're trying to read in order in trades that could be part of the problem. They don't bind their stuff for story, but for title.

What area of X-Men are you looking into reading and I might be able to help lay out a reading order for you.
