Comics Anyone else getting the Omnibus???

I would, but I've already got a couple of the Masterworks. What's the price for it anyway? I know it's gotta be pretty high up there.

Maybe when I've got some more cash, but for now I'm okay with my Essentials.

I know I am.

Is anyone getting the Hardcover of the Stan Lee/John Romita newspaper comic strip stories in May too?

I have the New X-Men Omnibus. And as an Easter present, I already know I am getting the Frank Miller Daredevil Omnibus.

I saw the Spidey Omnibus, but I don't know if I want to fork out the cash. The New X-Men Omnibus kind of depleted my funds and I would like to have some spending cash until I get some dough in the spring. The thing that bugs me is that I know that all the cash will eventually find itself invested in comics or something comic-related :D.

My other real hesitation is that I have already read these issues. Ooo and the Fantastic Four Omnibuses...yes plural...look nice too..oh sooo many comics to buy and so little money.

Darn.

AF 15, ASM 1 - 38, and some of the early annuals and specials

I know its blasphemy and all that, but I don't really care for Ditko. I'll wait for the Clone Saga Omnibus(Please god) or another X-Men one(Excalibur!)

You know I'm with you on the Clone Saga Omnibus, but I just don't see how they would do that, where all the stories would go... with four regular titles and a fifth quarterly series and then all the minis and specials, I just don't see how they would cram all that into one book. Would an Omnibus like that just cover the main clone storyline or the semi-unrelated storylines that were happening at the time, like "Media Blizzard" and the issue where Spider-Ben gets stuck in a kid's toyset? It would be hard to do, because even the seemingly unrelated issues, still always had clone-angst as a subplot hanging over it and there was always continual build-up and evolution in the characters' relationships with eachother, especially the gradual bond between Ben and Peter. On top of that, the commercial viability of putting it together and the cost and the disdain they've already shown the Ben Reilly fans... I don't see them doing it. Although I would love it and be first in line to buy it even if it cost upwards of 200 bucks. But I don't see it ever happening. :-( Maybe they should start with TPBing classics like "Lost Years" and "Redemption" and bring the "Revelations" tpb back in print and see if they get picked up.

They could probably do it if they divided it into maybe 2 or three volumes I bet... But if they had one definitive one I'd say pick some of the more important stories, like:

Power & Responsibility
The Lost Years
ASM #400
Return of Spider-Man (Reilly in new costume)
Return of Kaine
Redemption
Revelations

I don't know, those are just some of the important ones that are coming to mind.

A Clone Saga Omnibus would be great. I would want it complete though, not abridged. I'd say release a few Omnibus's. Fantastic Four has its second omnibus coming out this summer. So it seems that it takes quite a while for each to come out.

If we say each volume is around 40 issues long, how many volumes for the Clone Saga is that?

Well, there were about 100 issues total throughout the ongoings (not including guest apps. and such), and then if you add in the important mini's and such I'd say you could probably fit it all in about 3 volumes.

Aloha,
The cover price is $99 :wow: But I'm seeing it on Ebay for $69 and Amazon for $62. I think I'm going to wait this one out for a few months to see how much lower I can get it for.$50 would be cool.
Spidey rules

3 volumes? That's not so bad. I'd be happy to buy them.

100 issues...that's about the same as Civil War w/ tie-ins. They could put all the tie-ins in chronological order and such. I wouldn't buy a Civil War Omnibus, mainly because I read the issues already.

But Clone Saga would be great :woot:

The Ditko omnibus?

Hell yeah I'm getting this!

Just think what a great refference tool it will be to have Ditko's run all together.

When is it out btw?

If I could have any other omnibus styled book, it would be for the Hobgoblin Saga.

You know w/ this, and the 1977-80 strip HC.
It's like the two coolest possible old school Spidey HC's are coming out,
I am excited!

Uh hey guys... not to rain on anyone's parade, but look for better deals before you shell out almost a hundred for this omnibus. I was at a Barnes N Noble a while ago and bought a few collections (I forget if it was masterworks or what, but will check it out when I can) that were on sale for $4.95 each. That's right... less than five bucks. Each collection covered 10 issues plus annuals and back-ups. I got the three that were there, which essientially covered AF#15, ASM#1-30, plus two(?) annuals, Ditko sketches and the classic story with Spidey party-pooping Torch. Oh, and it was all color too. Each collection even came with individual introductions from Stan Lee from whenever they were published in the 90's.

The price when all was said and done? 13 bucks with my Barnes and Noble card. :woot: And that's only... what, 8 issues less than what this omnibus includes?

Amazon has 30% off roughly on the omnibus, that works for me.

Personally speaking, what is especially cool about this HC coming out is that I have not yet got round to buying the first 4 SM MM's. Turns out that w/ this SM omnibus coming out, it makes the first four volumes of the SM MM’s obsolete.

Since this new book is called omnibus Vol 1, does that mean there will be more on the way?
At 38 ASM issues in this first volume, not to mention all the other comics reprinted, a SM omnibus vol 3 would well exceed ASM#100.
This new format is certainly more friendly towards my wallet than the MM's, here’s hoping.

Anyway enuf, I’m just really excited about this and the newspaper strips HC.

Still excited about this, waaaaay EXCITED.

It would be the coolest if they use Ditko's unused cover for AF#15 instead of the regular cover for this volume's dust jacket.
