Anyone interested in a group buy on the Joker Shirt fabric

I'm getting quotes on digital fabric printing for the hexagonal material for the Joker's shirt. I've got the pattern ready and am now looking for somewhere to print it. The places I've looked all have minimums far over what it will take me to make the shirt. That said, I figured I'd post here and see if there was any interest in purchasing the fabric to make your own custom Joker shirt. The figures I have come up to between 2 and 3 yards of fabric to make the shirt, depending on the size you would require. I'm just looking to throw together enough people to meet a minimum order, and any over that would be great, as I anticipate pricing going down for larger quantities. So, is anyone interested?

I prob would be, yes. Depends on the final cost and what pattern you have.

I'll be too but like "Hello Beautiful", depends of the cost and pattern you have. I have a pattern very similar to the one in the movie if you like I can send to you or maybe you have it already

Me too.
very interested I am.

I was thinking of doing this and just called a place in NYC that does the printing, basically its:

$100 for image processing (setup, color correction to match printer ink, scaling/tiling if needed)

$100 printing fee per yard, 20% discount after 50 yards

Fabric is $10-100 per yard depending on material (so its better to buy some fabric before and supply it yourself to avoid these charges)

$8 per yard for inkjet printer fabric prep (paper backing, coating, etc)

Note: If you supply your own material they need an extra 2 yards for testing before actual printing

So all in all, minus th cost of the fabric I'd get on my own cheaper, this would be $100 (processing) + $108 per yard printing + $16 for testing. Given it would take, what, 1 yard for a single shirt?, then thats $224 for one shirt if you're on your own.

I'm still gonna look around for anything cheaper.

As for the pattern though, which one do you have? I have the one from whats his name, who was modifying it with the help of the guys on that other forum (the Boba Fett one I foget the name), and I already tweaked it so its 300 DPI and tileable. I'd post it, but I wouldn't want to without the owner's permission really.

And remember, this is ONLY for the fabric. Getting the shirt made will cost more added on.

Dude...it's gonna take more than 1 yard to make a shirt...count on about 1 1/2 to 2 minimum (or more, if you're heavy), to have enough material for collars, cuffs, screw-ups, etc, plus 75 to 100 bucks to have one custom- tailored...:cwink:

Isn't there a company called 'utopian' or something similar based out of Singapore that's already offering shirts for around 50-70 bucks? I remember seeing it on ebay in their online store as well....

Yep...but, the hexagons are not screen accurate...but, it's an alternative, if SA is no biggy....

those prices are very high.

at that rate you are looking at close to $600 just to get the fabric.

look through this very thread as some have found much better deals than that.

I don't get why if utopia is printing the shirts anyway, why don't they just get a more accurate design made. Plus if they can sell the shirt for $65, I am sure someone else could as well.

I am going to have to pass on this... the price just seems a little too cheep and reasonable. That might reflect the quality of the item. Just not willing to take a gamble on it. I will just wait to a more expensive shirt pops up... maybe a 1500.00 one, so then I will feel even more like I am getting my moneys worth... but, it's not my money I would buy it with. The mobs money! muhahahaha!

If enough people are in so I don't have to spend all my money on some fabric I'd certainly enjoy getting my hands on some. Probably would help out my Dark Knight parody :o

I'd do a group buy. If we just get enough people like thedentedhelmet forum did, we should be able to do this.
