Anyone know this anime?

[The Infernal]

I'm stuck on the name of an anime I saw years ago on Channel 4 (UK) in the early hours. I didn't see every episode but it had two warring kingdoms and whilst out in battle, the prince of one of the kingdoms captured the princess of the other. Yet he didn't know until she was captured, nor did she realise that he was the prince of the enemy kingdom.

There was one scene I remember where he comes to the jail cell she's kept in and she mouths off about the prince probably being evil and ugly, not realising that he is in fact the prince and not some guard.

For anyone who remembers when Channel 4 showed anime it aired sometime after "Legend of the Dragon Kings" or "Legend of the Four Kings" in the uk and 3X3 eyes etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Probably near a decade ago. I'm 25 and I was in secondary school at the time. All I can remember the is the princess had red hair and I think the prince had blonde. Plus there was something about a conspiracy amongst the nobles in the Prince's kingdom... and something about a funky looking sword. It looked like a demonic knight's sword, but my memory is really fuzzy on that last part.

Sorry about this not being in the anime section. Hopefully a mod will move it.

its not "Twelve Kingdoms" is it?

Nah. Friend has twelve kingdoms, and I don't remember her saying anything about that in the plot.

And 12 Kingdoms was released in '02.

Sorry, I am trying to remember something I only saw a couple of episodes of about a decade ago.

Nothing came up in my Google trawl either. Except for people on other forums talking about the dragon anime I also mentioned.
