You know what you're going to get when Robert Downey Jr. is involved. And I'm not against that. But lately, everything I've seen from IRON MAN almost makes it look like a cheesefest. They're really playing up the humor angle a lot more than they did before in earlier showings of the trailer, etc. Anyone else getting that vibe a little?

I thought I was all alone, ya I think the same.

I'm not saying it's going to suck or anything, it looks really cool, but it looks like the quirky comedy factor is going to be fairly high.

I dunno, it's just giving me the vibe of your typical Marvel movie.

Or that its gonna be too fanboy

Not that, it almost literally seems like a cheesy 80's movie at points.

I think it's going to be good but I did notice the quirky comedy factor. The trailers (international included) are full of comedy and jokes.

Yeah, balancing the comedy and the drama seems to be getting harder in this day & age.

I think the comedy in the trailers is too make the film appeal to a wide audience and a wide age range. I dont think there will be much more humour in the film than what has already been seen in the trailers.

As long as this film knows to take itself seriously when it needs to, I'm not worried.

That is what I am thinking as well, I think they want this to appeal to a wide audience and showing the humour in it will show that it isn't only a action based superhero film, I hope we get a little humour but not the really campy humour, I saw enough of that this year in SM3, FF2 and GR.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried too. This will be a BIG disappointment if they just make it a big joke *cough*F4*cough* and Marvel movies are desperately in need for an excellent movie. But hopefully this will promise :cwink:

I'm not getting that vibe at all. The CC footage looked pretty serious, and the jokes didn't feel forced to me.

I'm actually more worried about this. That the movie drastically changes in tone from scene to scene, similar to Spider-Man 3.

I just hope it has more humor than the very few funny lines in the entire movie of Batman Begins(i.e. "nice coat", "stall them; tell them that joke you know", "you can borrow the Rolls", "didn't you get the memo").

I haven´t had a problem with the humor so far cuz it hasn´t been really campy humor, except maybe the repulsor accident, so far the humor seems in character and within the context of the story, like RDJ´s speech and "to peace" feels more like ironic wit than feel-good/goofy humor. In the first teaser there clearly is a change when he´s captured and the tone gets serious and darker, so far I haven´t seen reason to suspect this is going to be a Fantastic Four or something. Favreau has always said his intent was to make a serious, even though entertaining, movie.

Batman's not really a humorous character though.

True, but I still think BB would've been better off to have a bit more.

I don't really get that at all, though I can understand why some may fear it.

Tony Stark = wit and sarcasm. I think that's where most of the humor will come from. The humor will likely be dark and of course situational at times due to the nature of the character. But I just don't see it reaching the FF's satirical level.

I think the movie will be a mix of the old red and gold avenger and the new IM which admittedly I don't know a whole lot about, other than the fact that everyone says IM is screwed up in the current comics.

I get a very Spider-man-ish vibe from this film--it won't be a dark brood fest, but it won't be campy either. It will be what it should be, a close as possible comicbook fantasy film, nothing more, nothing less.

Let it be what it should be and most will be fine. If people start trying to make IM into something it isn't supposed to be (or worse shoe-horning IM into their personal rendition of the character), then the problems will start.

Well, I expect it'll be about the same in tone as a Tom Clancy movie, say Hunt for Red October or some such thing, and that movie had much more humour than Batman Begins. Yeah, that's about right for Iron Man, whichat it's heart should have a lot of techno-thriller/espionage type stuff going on. That's the world Tony Stark lives in, not the dark detective/Dashell Hamnett stuff that Batman is more about.

i have a feeling that it is going to be like daredevil and the hulk

^You think it's going to suck.

Seriously folks, I'm getting major bad vibes from the movie. Unlike alot of people on Hype I like humor in my superhero films so I don't have a problem with that but the little I've seen of the movie screams mediocre movie with actors that should know better.

People have a right to be wary,so far Marvel has only taken the Spider-Man films seriously. All others have been decent,or dissapointments.
