Iron Man Anyone prefer Iron Man over Dark Knight?

I've never been a big fan of Nolans films. He seems to be more focused on being clever and thought provocative than fun. This is a guy that wanted to take away the cape because it was too unrealistic! Imo thats the entirely WRONG mindset to have when making a superhero film. He should be thinking about the "I'm Batman" Jokes and how Batman is like Chuck Norris, we the audience shouldn't feel like we're sitting in class, we should feel excited to be watching Batman. Imo Iron Man was the perfect balance of realism, humor, and superhero action/adventure.

The Dark Knight is a very well made movie, don't get me wrong, but it's just not what I'm looking for when I'm watching something like Batman.

TIH was better than both IM & TDK for '08 CB movies.There.I said it.:ikyn

Gosh no. As much as I love Iron Man, it's not in the same league as TDK.

Even when I prefer TDK better, Iron Man was a great movie. Fresh, funny, exciting, fast-paced. It showed Iron Man in his glory and Robert Downey Jr was excellent in it.

Definitely IM. TDK is great 75% through. Then it gets to those damn ferries and some of the worst acting and dialogue I have ever witnessed.

:lmao:

Agree on IM, but I can't even sit through that much of TDK anymore. The last time I watched it, I skipped through to Ledger's scenes, and that was it. The rest of the film is rather boring IMO.

Iron Man is solid from start to finish.

It'll have better legs than IM3. And IM2's legs were fine for how big it opened. Was it Avengers or IM1 legs? No, but I dispute the notion that they are the bar for determining whether the GA loved a movie or not. Now maybe if IM2 had AngHulk legs then maybe there would be a true argument to be made here.

No they did not or else it would have had much stronger legs at the box office.

I'm not seeing the logic here. The GA loved Iron Man. This much is irrefutable. Iron Man 2 has a higher BO take, yet you say the GA didn't like it?

I prefer Iron Man over TDK. I can still watch IM and enjoy it the same as before, but TDK, not quite as much. I do still like it, but I think they took too long to bring forth Two Face, and they tried to squeeze in too much towards the end. Iron Man, on the other hand, feels perfectly balanced to me. Sometimes, "less is more."

I prefer most movies over TDK. Hell, I prefer getting a root canal to TDK.

I prefer Batman's character more overall, but I find IM1 to be tied with Begins and better than both TDK and TDKR. I still like the latter 2 Batman movies, but they're mixed bags as far as I'm concerned. For every one aspect I like, there are at least three more that I find annoying.

Much more I really liked Iron Man a lot better. Then again I really dislike the Dark Knight ( it disappointed me after the excellent Batman Begins.)

It's that bad. TDKR is worse, but it's in the so-bad-it-funny category for me which makes it somewhat watchable. I laughed practically every time Bane threatened someone in his WC Fields voice. The stadium scene is pure gold. :woot:

I didn't find TDKR to be nearly as bad. It's still bad, but in a bore me to sleep sorta way. Kinda like Superman Returns. But TDK actually is one of an elite few that managed to piss me off. I ****in' hate that damn movie. I don't hate SR or TDKR. I just dislike them.

Have you seen Auralnaut's Bane redub on youtube? It's priceless.:woot:

I love Iron Man but TDK is far better in my eyes.

TDK is very well made, but I didn't care for it as a Batman film and found its bleakness to be wearing. My wife let out an very loud "Come on!" when it was discovered that, yet again, the Joker had managed to move thousands of gallons of curiously explosive gasoline into a vulnerable location during the ferry sequence. It was virtually devoid of the joy I demand in my superhero films, and I much prefer Batman Begins to Nolan's Joker-centric followup.

Iron Man also deals with serious real-world issues, but retains the fun of its comic book origins. In my opinion stands up much better to multiple viewings than Nolan's 2nd Batman film. And while Alfred is a fine mentor, I will take Yinsen over him every day of the week and twice on Sundays. During their time together, Yinsen saved Tony's life twice (including non-violently sacrificing his own life), helped construct the first suit and got a lifelong weapons manufacturer to completely change his world view. Not bad for a few weeks work.

Whaaaat ?

You are joking right ? please tell me your are joking.

I felt really excited watching TDKT, it works both as a movie making class, a copshow, a superhero film, a character drama and a superhero film
Imo Iron Man was the perfect balance of realism, humor, and superhero action/adventure.
I agree although i don't think that tone fits DC characters.

Nope, TDK was a revolutionary game changer that is superior to every other CBM to date for too many reasons to count. The only film that comes close is its own predecessor, Batman Begins.

I would probably put Iron Man in the top 10, but it's nowhere near TDK.
