If X-Men 4 features Apocalypse, which characters introduced so far in the X-Men series would make the best candidates for his Four Horsemen of Death?

In the comics, pretty much every character has at one point been one of the Four Horsemen, there's really no set four. Including incarnations from X-Men: Evolution, and other alternate universes from the comics, it's very open-ended.

I think the best four candidates would be Xavier, Magneto, Storm, and Angel.

This way, Xavier can get his old body back thanks to Apocalypse, Magneto can become more powerful than before he lost his powers, and Angel can get his metal wings.

And Wolverine will have to lead the rest of the X-Men and even the Brotherhood to save the world. Everyone would get a good amount of screen time and it seems fitting that three of the most powerful mutants would be used by Apocalypse, maybe Angel joins him willingly after he loses his wings and would do anything to fly again.

Four new mutants. Maybe have Archangel, but that's it.

Why do that? That would just add more characters to an already over-crowded movie.

Apocalypse is the main villain, right? So new faceless henchmen are fine, and if you want a named character to be a horseman, use Archangel, so he gets more story. It's only over crowded if each and every character needs a lot of story to set up, like what would happen if FOUR existing characters had to have explanations as to why they're working for Apoc.

If they're pre-existing characters, people are going to want to know why they're there.

I concur.

I too think the four horsemen should be returning characters in the movieverse. Then we can see how much it advances their powers. My candidates have always been Angel as Death, Cylcops as War, Rogue as Pestilence and Mystique as Famine.

Exactly. It's not repetitive and it doesn't require much screen time. It's not as though the original four horsemen needed much of a set-up, so introducing new characters for Famine, Pestilence, and War shouldn't be a problem.

That's pretty cool. I hadn't thought of Cyclops, which is a great way for him to come back. Mystique isn't that powerful to me, though.

I liked how the series finale of X-Men: Evolution showed Rogue is a larger role as the only mutant able to stop Apocalypse, which would give her a way better story than in X3. In the cartoon, she absorbs Leech's power and with that, she nullifies Apocalypse. Which is cool, too, considering at the end of X3, Leech was enrolled at Xavier's. And it would give him a purpose.

Aside from Archangel, leave the other Horsemen as nameless, faceless badguys. In fact, forget the horsemen altogether: they suck and Apoc does too.

angel, gambit, savertooth, and polaris

I think their power should give them away and have it be like a easter egg for fans and not really name them. I don't think they should be existing characters though. Maybe Archangel but nobody else that would add origins we don't need.

rogue should definitely become one when she realises that her powers have come back and becomes desperate

I would say get angel as well to replace a henchman he took down in battle.

the rest should be nameless easter eggs.

3 of the depowered mutants (Magneto, Mystique, Rogue) plus Angel

leave magneto and mystique out of an x-men film, he's hogged 3 already...

Id have sinister in the 4th movie who has Cyclops captured doing experiments on him (he saved him from jean), and the X-Men fight him and his Marauders, with harpoon injuring Angel and him having to have his wings amputeted, thus having him seek out Apocalyspe in the 5th movie.

You could probably put all of that in the same movie, not have to space it out between two.

i think definitely rogue and angel should be horsemen, and then unimportant others. magneto already has his powers back and im not sure that i care about mystiques powers being back or not...

I say go with the dead characters: Prof. X, Cyclops, Jean, and Sabertooth I guess. Though I'd be cool either way.

I kinda like the Apocalypse story from X-Men Evolution.

i dont think their should be a four horsemen lineup without angel in it....other wise what was the point of adding him into x3 other than to pack in as many muties as possible.

Not to mention the blue skinned, metal winged Archangel would look awesome in live action. Scary too.
