In the last two centuries, human activities have added to the atmosphere 2.3 trillion tons of carbon dioxide, intensifying climate change.

According to a report by the UN 42% of native mammals, 43% of birds, 45% of butterflies, 30% of amphibians, 45% of reptiles and 52% of freshwater fish are threatened with extinction in Europe.

There's a similar degradation of marine life from overfishing and pollution. 65% of commercial fish stocks are facing the danger of extinction because of intensive fishing.

Even more countries in the world take measures to reduce emissions and currently there is a discussion taking place to reach governments at a global agreement on tackling climate change.
To save the planet we all share responsibility and all should act in the rational use of natural resources, energy saving, and cope with natural catastrophies.

Surprised there's no thread for Earth Day.

Why move to another planet instead of fixing Earth, our first home?
If we keep this path of lust for profit and wasting natural resources, even if we move to other planets we're gonna destroy them eventually and I'm sure we 're much better than causing destruction and havoc.

Sorry but I can't make humor on such a serious subject. I get that the previous poster was not talking literally but there are many people who really mean it that the solution would be to move to other planets. And that's something I don't agree with.

On the subject of of humans leaving the Earth and the destruction of planets, this is my favorite Asimov short story. Humanity does spread throughout the entire universe and the subject is on the destruction of the universe.

Yes it is true I haven't post much on the superhero threads but that is cause I have lost interest in fictional superhero stuff and I don't have the time to post in every single thread I see. Although I read occasionally the Spider-Man and MOS boards.
So what if I post more environmental stuff? I didn't offend anyone doing so and I see no problem whatsoever.
