Being truthful, the trailer(s) for this all look decent yet unimpressive, a bit like the first. Hard to really tell how this will fair at the BO because even though I thought the first was alright, I didn't think it was a $1b film.
I'm at least pleased James Gunn has to my knowledge, thus far, kept his trap shut about this as opposed to trying to use his new found platform within DC to hype up every recent film that has come out, which so far has all backfired.
I'll be very surprised if this does well at the BO & by well I mean coming anywhere close to the $1.1b or so the first made. I think it will do well to clear $600m given some of the baggage it has.

I suppose it doesn't truly matter how it does at the box office anymore. They are playfully framing this as the ''last'' AQUAMAN movie (for now anyway).
Yes, of course WB will care how it does, but I think they just want to get this era of DC movies over with.

At this point it doesn't matter, one of the things already working against this film is I think most people are now completely aware this iteration of the DCEU is over & pretty much the only reason this is seeing the light of day is because too much money was invested before WB/Gunn came to the conclusion to reboot the DCU.

Hey this may well end up garbage but im in! I just love James Wan’s visual aesthetic to these films and that gives it an edge to me. I feel like at the very least this is going to be a stupid fun action movie with gorgeous visuals and kinetic action sequences like the first one.
I think this is going to make more than The Marvels too.

Can't wait for this era of DC movies to end! I'd be seeing this on Dec 20. But it will play in theaters until March and there's gonna digital/streaming release later on, so thats like 5 months left.

I think it will have similar numbers as Fast X. It will probably do well in the foreign markets because of Wan and Momoa but the US market appears to be done with the DCEU. That said I will be their opening day like I was with the first Aquaman.Opening Weekend Range: $32M-$42M

The first Aquaman movie made over a $1 billion.
IMHO, it's criminal how Warner Bros. has treated this film and franchise. Announcing the whole DCU slate before they were even finished releasing these films is also corporate malpractice.
They sabotaged Aquaman 2 and literally every DC movie that came out this year. They sabotaged themselves.

While I agree they should have waited for the DCEU to finish before announcing a full reboot, I don't think it would have made much difference in the box office. The vast majority of the general audience has no idea about the fate of the current universe or the films that are in development in the next one. That's something mostly us fans know and discuss. Most people don't follow movie news so it's not that common knowledge.
Also I can understand WB wanting to move on sooner rather than later. Realistically if they hadn't announced Gunn's reboot, we wouldn't be having Superman Legacy until 2026. And while I wouldn't have a problem because a break might be needed and it would mean more time developing the projects properly, I'm sure the studio did. They thought they had the golden eggs goose, which all signs this year in and outside DC has proven that's not the case, and wanted to make some profit as soon as possible.

My thoughts as well. I feel like this may very well be dead-on arrival. I hope not, but its just the feeling I get.
I too feel announcing the DC reboot and list of new films before they even released the last few of these previous universe films was a very bad mistake on their part. But, it is what it is I suppose. I really enjoyed the first Aquaman movie and I'm sure I'll watch this one at some point. But I feel like I'm still recovering from the feeling of being beaten up emotionally over the last couple of years due to the roller coaster ride of WB/DC news.
