Arad on Spidey 3

If it goes the way I would like to see.....

1. Peter starts out in red/blue suit
2. Mary Jane dies...Peter dons black suit to cope...becomes borderline vigilante
3. Somehow by the end of the movie...Peter earns redemption (takes off black suit) and red/blue suit makes re-appearance.

Mary Jane dying well before the third act? Priceless.

A black suit helping someone cope with tragedy? Masterful.

I like Arad's comment about SM3, and hopefully this will be the badass Peter/Spidey. So looking foward to that.

Absolutely. This aspect looks to be very promising.

Don't see a problem with that.

Someone wearing a red and blue suit and fighting crime to cope with the loss of his Uncle? Who would have thought?

And the "rolleyes" smiley thing is played out. It's like a crutch for some people.

I bet you don't. :o

I'm not going to try to even explain how ludicrous that sounds. You do know Spider-Man, right? We are talking about the same character?

Played out? Are you the Hype Fashion Police? :D

It's just the way you're saying it. You make it seem like he put on the costume to literally "cope with the death of Uncle Ben".

Basically he did because of guilt.

From what it sounds like he's going to go "Emo" in SM3 anyway.

Him putting on the costume was for a reason bigger than Uncle Ben. You know that, dude.

Peter's guilt over Ben's death was the MAIN reason he put on that suit.

you deserve a thousand "rolleyes" you idiot. Fighting crime, yes, but him wearing the color red and blue suit has NOTHING to do with the loss of his uncle. MJ's not gonna die, and Spider-Man is certainly not gonna change the COLOR of his costume to deal with her death. it's not a ****in funeral.

if theres no symbiote i'm going to be PISSED.

But it seems there taking a more 'realistic' route, maybe no symbiote?

for those who said that it's confirm venom you're all wrong.
it proof that the movie have no symbiote

Avi Arad : "I don't know about Venom, I know about Topher Grace!....The black suit is a metaphor for Spidey's mental state.''

the suit is a metaphor for spidey's mental state. So it's not a symbiote it's just to show that this one will be more dark in the personality of SPidey, that he will change his mind of became good to evil or something like that

It's funny how to failed to pay attention to the most crucial part of what Arad said:

"In Spider-Man 2 we wanted him to put the suit back on; here we'll want him to take it off. He cannot be the Peter we want him to be unless he takes the suit off...."

Why would we WANT him to take off the suit if it's just a simple color change? And more importantly why can't he be the Peter we want him to be unless he takes the suit off? Since when did changing the colors of your clothes effect your personality? Oh no, I better not put on that black shirt tomorrow, I might kill someone!

It's so simple. The audience wants Peter to overcome the symbiote by taking it off. He CAN'T be the responsible Peter we know him as unless he ditches the symbiote.

Look guys, The symbiote, maybey not Venom, is in the movie. Like it or not its the truth. Come to realize that.

Regarding Venom: "I don't know about Venom, I know about Topher Grace!....The black suit is a metaphor for Spidey's mental state. In Spider-Man 2 we wanted him to put the suit back on; here we'll want him to take it off. He cannot be the Peter we want him to be unless he takes the suit off...."

NO.... many needs to come to the realization that Topher Grace is not Eddie Brock/Venom.

Venom just isen't Venom without the irresistible taste of evil.

 :D "Less Filling!" and yet unlike Miller Lite does "not" "Taste Great" *thinks about that... hell, neither does Miller Lite either come to think of it. ;)

we could argue and argue for months and months but in the end remember that arad screwed with us so many times before

A lot of you guys are reading his quote totally wrong. The black suit IS the symbiote and Venom IS in the movie. He can't talk about Venom so he evaded the question. And saying that the black suit is a metaphore doesn't mean it's not the symbiote. He's talking in terms of the story. It means the symbiote storyline here is a metaphore for Peter's feelings. We want Peter to take the costume off because it's making him irresponsible.
