I find it a hard concept to swallow personally but what if the new one was actually better (not commercially but actually better viewing) than ang lee's version...

would you forsake it?

if it were better, i'd kiss my own ass...

lol... but really, i wouldnt forsake the new film if it were better, right now, it doesnt seem to have the talent behind it to make it so.

Why would we be afraid that the movie will be better then the original? Seeing as how the original was a great movie then having a restart that´s better would be a good.

What we are however afraid of is getting a brainless flick that has the depth of a puddle but somehow makes more money and people start saying it´s better then the first when in fact it´s not :(

I wouldnt hate the movie if it were better, but i would be surprised if things turned out like that. As this new movie seems as if it doesnt have the same level of talent and idea's behind it.

I doubt it'll be better in every way than Ang's. So there'll always be things in either version that is loved(based on the assumption that the sequel turns out pretty good). I really doubt the editing and use of wipes is gonna be outdone in any Hulk movie that'll be released in my life time(unless a director with some skill tries to emulate or better what Ang did). I also have doubts the action scenes will be as good as or be better than Ang's. Which were fast moving, and displayed lots of power and attitude. They might make bigger spectacles of explosions and other things, but that really doesn't impress me more than what Ang did with Hulk. For me some of the best action scenes i've seen in years. And as for explosions, that one that exploded above the abandoned houses at desert base is my favourite explosion in any movie, I just loved it. I'm sick of the huge red flame of an explosion cliche that is ever present in Hollywood films.

Be interesting to talk about this after the sequel is out. So we have things we can compare.

I greatly doubt that it'll be better then the original one. But if it would be, yeah I'd like it.

Yeah i loved the action in the first movie, so raw and full of power. And surprisingly realistic looking as well.

well people may be afraid to perhaps see that the hulk could have been done better if shown from a different perspective that perhaps doesn't concentrate on the depth more but brings more aspects of the character to life. It would also highlights the faults of the old one and may have it collecting cobwebs on the shelf as a blatantly inferior attempt to make a hulk adaptation.

fans can be very protective over their nostalgic property. Even for something like christopher reeves as superman, many are saying he will never be topped which i personally feel is nonesense. same thing for maguire for spidey, fans are notorious for being set in their ways and views.

that's why i'm wondering.

to be brutally honest, I don't think it takes that much to make a decent hulk origin movie. perhaps down the line when the complexities of the character becomes more apparent, this would be a problem but for a origin film, i think the hulk is easier to do than most, there will be plenty going on, enough to keep the pressure on dealing with complex views and standpoints.

i think they could get away with making it less complex initially.

Personally no. I'd welcome it with opens arms however i think the first movie is hard to surpass in terms of story, drama and action.

And they want to pull this all of with a man in a suit?:o I'm eagerly awaiting the news from Comic Con.

Maybe, we need more news on the direction they are taking this before making that assumption though IMO.

It won't be better in any way. According to Arad they're going as commercial as they can.

As a supporter of the comic origin this whole thing about do-over, re-make or whatever scares me. No one likes to hear "I told you so" and even as much as I give Ang a hard time, his Hulk looked and acted like The Hulk (without the growing :p ;) :D ). I think the story was lacking and insipid, but that's my opinion. Avi has put himself and the franchise in a bad spot. If he makes a FF type Hulk movie, this franchies is dead. Unless he gets a budget to surpass Angs movie that's almost a given. I also get the feeling the Superhero movies are lossing their charm. I think people are lossing interest. :(

thats cause Fox keep making shyte movies :(

Nah. Fox isn't the only studio making Superhero movies Sav. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. It just seems that way to me. I know one thing for sure though, if the next Hulk movie is light years above and beyond the first. We'll never see another Hulk movie in our lifetime.

true, thats why what they are doing now isnt exactly making me jump in joy

Could be worst. They could name Angs evil twin to direct the next movie. LOL J/k :D If they have a decent budget the CG is way ahead of 2003. Look at Davy Jones in POTC-DMC. When is Comic-con again?

20..or 22nd i think, I hope they spend around 130mill or 150mill on Hulk 2 (seeing as how Marvel also make money on Merchendise, i dont think its a problem). And having a guy like the one who did Night Watch, it should be great, Penn's script sounds great, it should be good once they announce the director.

No...I am a fan of Hulk so any film as long as it is good would be good. Funny that.

Who is he? What else has he done? All we know about Penns 90's script is that it was a cross between the comic and the show. Oh yeah and sharks  If people laughed when the Hulk fought the Hulk dogs, the laughter will be deafening when he fights sharks. We'll all be in the theater doing a commercial for ATA Airlines "You ever just want to get away." LOL

all that guy has done is Russain films but i think he had a budget of 10mill or something like that and Night Watch looked like it cost 100mill, he seems to have a good eye for CGI. Penn script sounds good and when you look at it that way, anything would sound stupid, it all depends on how they pull it off.

No, it'd be like Batman Begins - Until Begins, Batman 89 was THE Batman film for me. After Begins came out though, it became the definitive Batman movie for me, however I still enjoy watching Batman 89.
I'm sure the same thing would happen (for me at least) if Hulk 2 is better.

Night Watch has a really cool look and is meant to be a good movie as is Day Watch. I may rent NW soon just to see for myself.
