The trailer worried me a bit cause some scenes worked and others didn't. However, after having seen the movie (and the completed effects of course) I thought it was fantastic. I don't know if it'll win but I could see a nomination.

Yeah I would like to see it nominated, they did a perfect mixture of CGI and actual suits.

Depends on what other effects this summer has to offer. Definitely possible though. Don't know how much effects is in TDK. Speed Racer is racing for the gold. So, this early on, hard to say. It's really possible though.

Doubt it. Itll be Narnia, Potter, and Speed Racer.

Its certainly Oscar worthy...but If nominated mite not win

I really doubt Speed Racer will get a nod, it looks too (deliberatly, but still) cartoony and fake.

What u just stated is what might give it the gold. That they got it to look like a cartoon jumped to life on the big screen.

I 'D LIKE TO SEE IT AT LEAST GET A NOMINATION, I THOUGHT THE CGI/FX WERE GREAT!!!:D:up:

It'll get a nomination, definitely. Not sure if it'll win or not but who cares. The effects kicked *** anyway!

I think it might really depend on what else comes out between now and the noms...what Iron Man has on its side though is how the effects didn't overtake the film and instead supported it (which is how it should be anyway...)

Honestly...I thought the effects in this movie were WAY better than in Superman Returns. The jet scene was fantastic. Unlike in SR where during the plane scene there was some fake-ish shots of Superman.

Superman Returns had the same issue Blade 2 (even though I looove blade 2) and the spider-man films had with the rubbery limbed CGI stuntman...

The effects were absolutely amazing. ILM does it yet again and raises the bar.

Yea, it seems like they just superimposed the physical Iron Man into that the scene instead of creating an entire CGI.

I don't know about the effects, but I am predicting RDJ for best actor in a leading roll. Not a win nessisarily, but a nomination. I've used the comparison before, but this will be like when Johnny Depp got nominated for Jack Sparrow.

Depp gave a unique performance as Sparrow. Downey was great but his performance wasn't unique. So...I don't see him getting nominated.

Nah he won't. The Academy will reward Iron Man in the technical department, for the most part.

Well...Golden Compass :-)whatever:) won last year so anything is possible.

I'm with you on that !
Well, I thought the CG were at least as good and realistic looking and well integrated as in TF (that's a good thing TF naysayers !)
I doubt Speed Racer can get nominated, it looked so weird and outrageously colourful it felt like Mario Kart the Movie ! ;)

Problem being, if they only keep 3 films as Oscar worthy, IM might not be one in that short list. :o
