I have an original system.. with the PS3 eventually coming, is it worth it to sell off/trade-in the older PS2 and get a newer, slim version-- do all the games still work the same..? do DVD's still work?

You're still using the fat PS2, what are you thinking?!?! You must not have bought a game in a while because new PS2 games don't work on the old system anymore. Also it makes old games look and play better. You remember the difference between the different models of Genesis, basically the same thing here, the new version is just so much better.

The games don't look and play better.

Everything is exactly the same as the old ps2, it's just smaller. Some games won't play on it, I forget which ones, but it's a very small number, and there's already a slot for ethernet cord so you can just plug it right in and play online games for free.

If you have the fat PS2, just keep it. No sense getting a slim, especially if you're going to get a PS3.

No, do not waste your money on anymore PS2 things. I repeat do not waste your money. Just 5 more months, that is the wait. Just wait it out, plus the slim PS2s are not that cool. I still have my orginal system, of coarse I had to re-buy it 2 years ago.

I've had my fat PS2 since the day they launched and never had any trouble playing any games...

Really??? Mine died on me and I had to get a new one. I still got the fat PS2 though. It looks better to me.

I think amazing was being highly sarcastic guys.

I like the thin one because the wire of the controller is almost the same thickness as the system.

I am, and I'll admit, I'm a straight up Sony Fanboy. All the electronics I own (iPod and laptop aside) are Sony.

Good luck posting here Most of Sony defenders have really been quietly lately here. Your probably better off at this so called "safe haven" place they seem to have. Sony sadly has the Sony Fan Base Split up

Im only bashing SONY so much at the moment because they are making it too easy.

I can not speak for everyone else but I am bashing Sony simply because I am annoyed at how cocky they are & how they are handling this whole PS3 thing & especially got very annoyed when Sony is accusing Microsoft stealing / following everything they are doing when they are stealing & following from EVERYONE ELSE that did it first. Sony needs to get their heads out of their asses

if your 'old' PS2 doesn't work, then yeah, get one.

if not, then why would you want to get one?

That makes you awesome?
no not at all what I was trying to say, I'm just admitting it. I think 600 is way too much myself, but it wont' stop me from buying it. Just a little Sony Bias in me, and I thought it'd just be easier to not hide from that fact.
