Are there certain kinds of Fanboys that annoy you? - Part 1

I find that Marvel fans are seriously irritating, both online and in real life. Its like they felt Stan Lee's playful remarks toward DC allowed them act infantile, and they havent looked back since.

Are there any other types of fans that just turn you off?

Now that you mention... I hate that fanboy called Stan Lee! :woot:

Don't get me started on the fanboys who, know matter what, say that the box art for video games is always better than America's, mainly when it comes to Japanese box art. Sometimes it's true, but a lot of the time it's ridiculous.

This made me laugh. I mean, I know fanboys like to debate minutiae but talk about a silly thing to argue about. :lmao:

I guess anyone that memorizes and constantly recites comics/movies/tv shows word for word.

Fanboys that have opinions so deeply rooted that they cannot even begin to see where anyone else is coming from.

DACMAN... just kidding. Where are you?

Most of the people that comment on the main page articles.

People who talk **** about Bendis, yet still buy Avengers and New Avengers only to ***** some more.

Same goes for a lot of other popular comic writers.

I personally dislike people that take continuity too seriously and try to make too much sense of it to the point it prevents them from enjoying reading a story.

Fanboys who say that the "original" version of everything is the superior version. Sometimes **** is improved upon with newer versions because the original was, in fact, ****.

What? Don't you realize how rightful they are? Venom is always better in the 616 to other adaptions
:Punchingcaptainmarvel:

Hulk fanboys who refuse to admit that hulk could ever be beaten, slowed down, inconvenienced or in anyway waylaid by another character.
If that were true how ****ing boring a book that would be.

I hate fanboys that treat you like your not a real fan because you don't own a lot of comics/memorabilia.

Some of us are poor. Doesn't mean we love the characters any less!

Yep, DC fans.:cwink: The only DC hero I like is Batman. All the rest just annoy me, especially how ridiculous Superman and Wonder-Woman are.

Marvel's heroes are outlandish, but they're generally more grounded and realistic than DC's heroes and I like the fact that they're situated in REAL cities.

I love Vertigo books though.

I'm beginning to hate the fanboys who say "I don't get the appeal" in regards to certain other movies. I know why you don't get it, because you have a small, unimaginative mind that can't comprehend things outside of superheroes or action films being popular or awesome. Boom :o

Like how people can find a drunken pirate so much more popular than the man of steel, or what have you?

No not like that. I'm talking about just having eclectic tastes. Some people are just so limited and ignorant of film as an art form. It's like if it's not a superhero or action movie with loads of explosions it's somehow boring.

I mean like, when someone lists their 10 favourite movies of all time and 9 of them are superhero films, they need to branch out a bit more. Broaden their horizons.

I think where you have film snobs you have the complete opposite of them too. The people who think any film that requires some intelligence or you to think about things is automatically pretentious or boring. And they won't give it a chance out of sheer ignorance and pig headedness. It actually infuriates me, and i don't know why lol.

Oh I agree.

My movie tastes are very across the board, but i'll rarely say a movie is awful... it's usually pretty easy to see 'the appeal' for other people, even if it doesn't appeal to you personally.

Like Tree of Life or Coriolanus. I didn't love them but I could see that they were well made films for their different reasons. And Rise of the Planet of the Apes... I didn't neccesarily 'get it', but the effects were great and i'm sure my general lack of any enthusiasm for apes had something to do with it :funny:

People who constantly chime into threads with phrases like 'I don't get the appeal of...' it kind of feels like they are just trying to point out how different they are. It's usually always after about 10 posts praising something you get one guy who just HAS to be different and say how they don't get why something is so popular.

I hate fanboys who are apparently so socially inept that they physically can't speak to you without throwing in some sort of ****** little passive aggressive insult or dig.
Then you call them on it and they'll say something like: "Welcome to the internet" as if that's an excuse for being a little prick.

Stop being so logical, Terry.

Oddly enough, I was just about to post about this but you seemed to have provided a perfect example. I'm a DC fan so I guess your regular "Marvel fan" would be quite annoyed with me. Because I read mostly DC. The Marvel books I read (Punisher, Daredevil, Iron Man, Captain America) are good too. I don't need to trash one side to build up another. Both are different and have different ways of going about it. At the end of the day it's some of the best and most groundbreaking literature going on out there as well as the best in serialized storytelling. But to some people don't see how great it is we have these two great companies doing great work no matter what kind of fan you call yourself.

People that look down on me because I got into comics in the 90's, and yes I read Spawn, Youngblood and Lobo comics. I grew out of the whole EXTREEEEEM, Lifeldishness, but I feel like I've been stigmatized because of when I started reading comics.
