Has Fox announced another dvd release yet?

I work at a videostore and tonight I was looking at a book for what we are getting in September and it had a spot for Fantastic Four-Street Date September 5th.

Hmmmm.....maybe its the DC....

If it is the DC, why have we heard nothing about it ? If it is the 5th of September, that is 31 days away. Oh and by the way. 11 days till they start filming. Is anyone siked yet ? :)

In my neighborhood you we're "Siked up". We did not use those 10 dollar words in my neighborhood. :)

whatever makes you feel better...

From the "Urban Dictionary".
siked
A poor misspelling of "psyched".

Created by a nation of slack-ass, unintelligent teenagers.
He easily psyched out his opponent.

She was psyched that she could spell properly.

You're 52 years old....you shouldn't be playing with the neighborhood kids at that age....

Well I thought that but I thought it was unusual considering I haven't heard anything or seen any promotion behind a new DVD. But it also had the word "flipper" next to it in the book which means a 2 sided disc.

Hmmmmmmm interesting.

I don't know what this is. looks like the first release with a new cover varation of the teaser poster and the first dvd cover.

here's the cover i found on amazon.com and its listed as one disk.

Probably just the standard re-releases that they do. It happens with like every movie.

Well it was listed in our book as a Side A/Side B type disc which is what interested me. I wonder what is going on.

i'm guessing maybe it will be the same as the first disc but its gonna have fullscreen on one side and widescreen on another.

but it doesn't make any sense to do that unless its the directors cut.

Well it makes sense to Fox because it = $.
but who's gonna buy something if there's no difference if they already have it besides the cover?

i mean i'm not gonna spend 15 bucks for the same movie i have except it has a different cover.

That is why I am thinking there is gonna be SOMETHING new on it.

what do you think there add?

what like a docomentary of the making of the movie or some behind the scenes stuff. possibly even bloopers?

HDMV Blu-Ray Disc of FANTASTIC FOUR boasts commentaries by all the cast!

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment Announces Its First Blu-ray Disc Releases
Available Worldwide In November, Initial Slate Targets The Early Adopter
By BusinessWire

http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=61384

Taking full advantage of the next generation format's high definition technology and advanced Java-based functionality, titles will be presented with the highest quality audiovisual elements including AVC (MPEG4 Compression) and HD "Lossless" Audio (select tracks) and many have unique interactive special features.

Fox's stellar, action-packed line-up of initial BD releases includes: BEHIND ENEMY LINES, FANTASTIC FOUR, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (Director's Cut), KISS OF THE DRAGON, THE OMEN (666), THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, SPEED and THE TRANSPORTER. This first wave of BD titles will arrive at retail outlets worldwide in November. Japan launches November 10 and product hits North American (SRP US$39.98/CAN$49.98), Australian and European stores on November 14.

"Blu-ray is the superior high definition format and come this holiday season it will be evident that it is really the only choice for consumers who want to enjoy pre-recorded high-definition content at home. It'll be that simple," noted Dunn. "It fully delivers on the promise of a next generation format and Blu-ray represents the bright future of the $50 billion global home entertainment industry and the inevitable successor to the incredibly popular DVD."

Title and disc configuration detailed below:

-- FANTASTIC FOUR: Presented with DTS HD Lossless Master Audio, the HDMV Blu-Ray Disc of FANTASTIC FOUR boasts commentaries by Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon, and selectable HD trailers of upcoming BD releases.

Blu-ray Disc is a next generation optical disc format developed for high-definition video and high-capacity software applications. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc holds up to 25 gigabytes of data and a dual-layer Blu-ray Disc holds up to 50 gigabytes of data. This greater storage capacity enables the Blu-ray Disc to store over six times the amount of content than is possible with current DVDs, and is particularly well-suited for high definition feature films with extended levels of additional bonus and interactive material. Blu-ray also features the most advanced copy protection, backward compatibility with the current DVD format, connectivity and advanced interactivity.

Cool! I wish they had gone with HD-DVD though. The Samsung Blu-Ray player has software issues and I don't think Sony's is out yet (and when it comes out it will be $1000).

It should look great on a 1080P set though - like Sony's SXRD.

I am dissapointed!!! I was willing to buy an HD-DVD player for F4.

BUT stupid FOX is supporting Blu-Ray. Why cannot they be like WB, UNIVERSAL and PARAMOUNT????

I mean common they all are supporting both the next-gen formats.

Nice find MOIDANGEREUX
This whole Blu-Ray/HD-DVD gives me mixed emotions. I accept that the picture quality is better than conventinal dvd players but i think its unfair for people to be forced to by a brand new dvd player just so they can take advantage of the picture quality and extra features. And what about the people who want to buy such a new dvd player? Why do they have to make a choice between HD and Blu-Ray. Couldn't the industry just have spared the consumer this and make a high-def dvd player than can play dvds from every movie studio, not just a select bunch?

Yet I still refuse to support HD or Bluray:o
