The only way to "make your own mind up" is to see every film that every gets released. Most of us have neither the time nor money nor desire to do so.

People do not let RT shape their opinions of the films. They can make up their own minds about that. I already said I liked Iron Fist and its 18%. What RT is is a tool to help people determine what is and isn't a good investment of their time and money. Something that gets 90% is far more likely to deliver a positive result than something that gets 10%. It is not different than any other site that has aggravate reviews site. If you are ordering something from Amazon and you can get it from one seller with a 90% customer satisfaction rating and one with a 10% customer satisfaction rating, you'd be an idiot to buy it from the latter. It might turn out alright, but why take your chances?

Most of the time, not all of the time, but most of the time, RT has been right. There are many more times I wish I listened to it instead of ignoring it. It would have saved me from wasting my time with seeing total crap like Batman v Superman, The Last Stand, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine in theaters.

Nope, no plans to boycott. I don't see it as that terrible a loss anyway since I'm one of those who weren't fans of 'pure Gunn' aka GOTG2. I'm not even a fan of what he did with the Guardians in IW.

Whether they use his script or not also doesn't bother me terribly. Maybe a new writer does better humor that doesn't come straight from the sandbox and doesn't undercut every dramatic moment or speech with a punchline and ruins it. Maybe they can actually write character development for Quill instead of character decline. Hopefully the new writer also doesn't show favoritism to his fave characters/actors. Maybe Drax can have lines instead of laughs. Although since Bautista already said he wouldn't put much work into it, they might just want to write the character out completely or kill him off early on. No need for an actor who refuses to do what he's paid for. And just as important, maybe the new writer can finally give the female characters their due. Mainly Gamora and Mantis.

I'm not "boycotting" but with the latest news that Disney is just scrapping Gunn's script altogether I am no longer interested in this film. If it gets knockout reviews I'll change my mind but yeah I'm soured now. They should just cancel the movie.

Yeah, I'm out as well. I'm not rewarding stupidity. I might catch GOTG3 on cable, like I did with Fant4stic.

No, I will not be boycotting the movie, however this has gone from a must see ASAP movie to a let’s see how the review shows are movie for me. And I am really sad about that.

I'm more likely to boycott Bautista films. That guy really needs to wind his neck in.

I don't think Disney will make GOTG 3, given all the controversy that surrounds it, but if they do I hope they can get a director who can add more drama instead of comedy for the 3rd film. And also please make Mantis a [email protected] superhero like she is in the comics; I found Gunn's interpretation of her character to be a bit underwhelming, even though Pom made her very funny & charming. With Gamora likely gone, the Guardians can use Mantis as a replacement who can kick serious butt and not just put people into sleep mode.

Totally agreed. It's a disgrace that Gamora and Mantis are in the top tier of Marvel fighters (skill wise) and they aren't allowed to show it. It's even more stupid when I think about Zoe and Pom actually being trained for that sort of stuff. What's the point of having these actresses when you don't make use of that?

I thought Gunn did a lot better with Gamora in Volume 2, but admittedly she never quite lived up to the Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy moniker. But I certainly didn't find Mantis "The God Stopper" to be underwhelming. The character is a nice blend of her 70s era appearance with her Abnett and Lanning era "Cosmic Priestess" personality and powers. The MCU didn't need another female hero with the power of taekwondo.

I don't understand why Marvel can't use another female superhero who can fight, especially one that is supposed to be a martial arts expert. And since Gamora is likely gone, the Guardians will only have Nebula and that isn't enough; they need Mantis to be more prominent as a fighter instead of waiting for her call to put enemies to sleep.

I suppose, but I appreciate the fact that Mantis is a super effective combatant without resorting to violence. Maybe they can bring in Moondragon for the punching?

Seriously. Because how many actual female physical fighters are there currently in the MCU that actually are relevant. There is Black Widow, Valkyrie and the women of Black Panther and...I'm out. And I'd like to point out again that all these women just mentioned kicked more ass in one movie than Gamora in all her appearances combined. It's an insult to the 'deadliest woman in the galaxy' to be relegated to mother hen and love interest.

Also why bother hiring Zoe and Pom, who are both trained, if you don't plan on making use of that. Any actress would do if Gunn never planned to actually have them fight.

Isn't that all of them besides the Scarlet Witch, Pepper Potts and Aunt May?

That is what besides means. As in all female characters in the MCU besides Scarlet Witch, Aunt May are physical hand to hand combatants. Some occasionally pull a a gun like Maria Hill. Go to TV Daisy is normally a martial artist who uses the force blast like a gun. Dagger is a bad martial artist who pulls out a secret knife. Jessica Jones is a brute force brawler. ..

I'm talking about MCU. Not MCU+every Marvel show there is, most of which don't count for MCU. First of all there is a lack of female characters to begin with in the MCU. It's usually one token female in a franchise with the exception of Black Panther (not counting side characters or minor roles). So why is it that GOTG with it's THREE female characters can't manage to make at least one an ass kicker? Or give them a big action piece like the ass kicking women in other Marvel movies? You'd think the Gamora/Nebula fight in GOTG2 would have been perfect for that, but nope. No time for that because we need more boring exposition about Ego and dumb Taserface jokes. That sister fight was a joke when one considers the battles they must have had when under Thanos' thumb.

I’m a fan of What he did with the previous two films especially the second one but he got into this situation thanks to his arrogance and stupidity. I don’t feel too bad for him

This movie is going to be a difficult one for me to accept. If Dave Bautista is in it, I don't want to see it. I find the Guardians as a whole pretty underwhelming, and I just don't see the point for them anymore. This has really changed my outlook on GotG. :csad:

GOTG vol 1 is my favourite MCU film - and a strong contender for my favourite film of all time. I loved Vol 2 as well.

While I am sad that James Gunn and Disney have parted ways, if another director could do justice to the characters and make an enjoyable film, I'd go and see it.

I'm still more interested in GOTG 3 than SS2 (which Gunn hired as its director and writer). However, after IW I do question whether we really need another Guardians movie.
