I was wondering if many people like to hang on to old things. Do you still have things from your childhood, or items that belonged to your grandparents or parents? Or do you just think that old items are junk that you throw away when it is out dated or you no longer need it?

Personally, I like to keep old things. I appreciate them more as time goes on. It has to have some kind of personal connection of course, not just any old piece of trash. Also, do you think men or women are more sentimental?

I am very sentimental but because of how much I've moved around and various girlfriends and other circumstances, I really don't have anything from my past.

I have stuff from old flames as well as the current one. Plus I keep birthday & christmas cards, hair, pelts, etc.

It depends. If a certain memory hits or an item that I've had from my childhood comes to my attention, then yeah, I'm definitely sentimental, but I do not have a habit of keeping things to experience those moments down the road. I live in the moment.

Very much so. I am currently packing to move and I have found some things I forgot I tucked away and decided to take them with me. Alot of it is books since I have a major fondness for reading. One of which was The Egypt Game which I absolutely loved as a youth.

I think I am very sentimental. I keep a lot of things, just like my grandfather was. I have problems with letting go things.

Yeah, for the most part. I tend to hang on to stuff that most people would throw out in a second to remind me of certain people, events, etc. Just rummaging through my closet the other day I found drawings me and my friends did in high school, movie tickets, all that stuff.

i am.

i was cleaning out an old drawer the other night and found old bday cards, valentines, movie tickets, my old physics notes from class, etc

I save everything, but especially things old friends and boyfriends gave me

i knew a girl who used to keep EVERYTHING. one night a bunch of us were staying at her house and after some went to sleep we were looking at her scrapbook/journal. she had kept her first condom :ikyn:

gross

Haha. That's pretty nasty, though I used to keep wrappers. :hehe:

I'm incredibly sentimental, to the littlest thing, but I am SOOO not gonna keep a used condom. :(

I love keeping my old stuff. Looking back on stuff is good times.

Dude so is the Hype full of sentimental sensitive guys that open up Streets of Rage and remember playing with their dad all those years ago. Then cry into a glass of pino noir and wonder if they'll have get happiness back.

I mean... I don't do that second part anyway...

It helps to be sentimental if you like writing fiction.

I kept a diary in 1980 and 1981. Best decisions I made those years. Still get a kick out of reading them and sharing what I wrote with my son.

Not keeping things from your past, to me, is like turning your back on yourself.
