Is this fan-made or something released by the studio?
It's the opening shot of the movie.
I know. Just curious if its something that was released or if someone copied it.
Saw this a second time last night and my overall score for it has definitely gone up. In my eyes, this exceeds The Wicker Man in being the de facto pagan film.
I really liked it, I'm glad I went in spoiler free.
I was actually expecting a bit more gore with the way people were talking about it though.
I was kind of surprised so much happened off screen with that run time.
Aster commissioned it specifically to appear in the movie
I'm somewhat surprised with the amount of people that found
Dani unlikable. I sympathized with her immediately.
Really liked this one but have a question.
They need 9 for the offering. There were the two friends, Christian, the other couple that were from the UK and the two men who were of those people. My mind is blanking. Who were the other two?
Two elders from the cult
Two volunteers from the cult
A sacrifice of the May Queen's choice
So the two elders were
killed off screen then? Weren't they the two that had the flowers/branches placed in/out of their mouths?
Overall I really really liked this movie and look forward to Aster's next film considering I also liked Hereditary.
I didn't have a problem with her either. It was Christian's friends (mainly that one) who were making her out to be a drag and excess baggage. Paint her in a bad light.
Basically, the ritual called for four outsiders to be sacrificed, four cult members to be sacrificed, and then one final sacrifice of the May Queen's choosing (either an outsider or cult member).
I can guess a gender of those people....
I was one of the four people on the planet who thought Hereditary was a bad film, but Midsommar was quite good! Though Hereditary was crap, Ari's potential was obvious. So I'm glad to see that come to fruition with this film.
I loved how nuanced both Dani and Christian were, and the entire dynamic of their relationship hit very close to home for me. Having recently ended a relationship where the two of us weren't emotionally invested in it anymore, I feel like I've lived what Dani and Christian went through in this movie. Minus all the creepy cult stuff.
I empathized with each character's perspective, but ultimately I felt myself rooting more for Dani.
Ari Aster Announces ‘Midsommar’ Director’s Cut With 30 Minutes of New Footage
Bring it on.
For theatrical release?
Just a cheap cash grab to try to beat Avatar. I hear that the CGI for the bear isn't even finished in the new scene!
I just got out, oh my...
My mind and soul hurts.
I can't wait to see this Director's Cut! I didn't find the theatrical version to be that long so additional footage shouldn't bother me so long as it flows well and the pacing is still on point.
Saw this a second time and I'm tempted to call it a masterpiece.
